$23,100 left in the kitty

DEF: Goddard, Delidio, Broughton, Hurn, Grimes, Mohr, Morris (Smedts, Blee)

MID: Ablett, Murphy, Redden, Coniglio, Morabito, Zorko (Miles, Golds)

RUCK: Leuenberger, Naitanui (Giles, Rowe)

FWD: Franklin, Martin, Zaharakis, Gray, Dangerfield, Porplyzia, Saad (Clifton, Walsh)

Im not really sure on my rookie selections (no Wingard) but I have tried to use the DPP with the midfield

One issue is I have 3 GWS mids,  Id probally need to fix that,  I have no idea on the bye rounds and havent at all considered that

A few uniques in there I think, so critique away

Hi mate, I think you're gonna get smoked rd1 if you play a decent team in your league, reason being your midfield is too light on. Going G & R (nothing to do with Axle & Slash - Guns n Rookies) is tempting, but you can get rolled early. You need 3 x premium midfielders, with a fourth mid/high price midfielder, then your rookies (x2). Don't be trapped into thinking you have to have Coniglio either, just because a rookie is 1st round or high priced does not mean they will score any higher. Think back to high/expensive draft picks last year (Gaff/Polec/Conca) they did nothing early!

Thanks for the comment.

First of all I think I think I make up for a weakish midifield with a goodish defence and decent forward line.

Im not sold enough one Barlow, Hayes and the other options in the midfield.  With good DPP Ive pretty much got 7 players to play as my 3 rookie mids starting.  Having a 4th mid as mid-pricer has a high liklihood of turning out to become a nothing pick, where the player could only score aroun 90 and youll have to upgrade them later anyway.

With Coniglio Im still wondering if hes worth that 90k or so.  But I put him as I see him as the Swallow of this year.  Which he really is as hes number 1 mid from the draft with senior footy under his belt playing for the new club.

I didnt put in Wingard as I see him being more like those player you named

DEF: grimes is a worthy mid priced defender if he looks good through nab cup. Hurn can be a better choice change him to a premium defender even a low priced one such as heppelll. first 3 are good rooks are good, except i know nothing about Blee??
MID: short one premium here also, for me you need 4 premiums and 4 rooks in the mids even if you downgrade coniglio and morabito to cheap rooks which will achieve the same get 1 more premium mid in.
RUCK: change rowe to stephensen no question, upgrade nicnat if you can afford he wont be a 90+ scorer so you eitehr need to use a trade to upgrade him or lose 20 points per round to every other team that has 2 premium rucks.
FWD: Make gray a decent premium (he is not imo) downgrade dangerfield and porps to cheap rooks to make the other upgrades i suggest.

5/10 can easily become 8/10 with a few changes

Reasons why Ive put some of those players in:

Hurn has increased his tank and is looking likely to play up the field.(this is speculative Ill admit)
NicNat is a 90+ scorer he averaged 93 or so last year, with a torn pec and will only get better
Stephenson and Rowe ill wait till team, thats an easy change
Porplyzia is really a must, will score 80+ and play every game
Dangerfield and Gray I understan where your coming from, but In my opinion theyre ready
Blee mature aged recruit at Port more likely to play than Pfieffer im pretty sure

With another comment on my midfield would it look better if I put Goddard or Martin in my midfield using DPP iin exchange for a rookie.  Its not going to imrpove my teams scoring any better, but I guess it will look better ::).  What Im saying is the midfield is the easiest spot to upgrade, thats why i leave it fairly vacant at early stages of the season.
Ive done SC last two years with a similar tactic and finished top 2500 and 7000 last two years.  Im not saying im a gun at sc because Im not but I think theres some merit to what im saying
Thanks for the comment i really do appreciate them

The strategy has worked for you in the past and I have no problems with it especially if upgarding mids are your first options. You may have the last laugh at end of season but it is not a strategy I will be using.
Agree mids look weak but you would have had that in previous years.  I would probably to make the most of mids upgarde Redden plus cash to the best available mid at the price David Swallow looks nice and juicy for you.

Would not weaken your defence or forwards by moving Martin or Goddard to centres.
Not so sure about Gray but agree with your comments on Dangerfield.

Your Team and your decision.

yea thanks to start off with I wanted Mundy or Watson instead of Redden but couldnt afford them and I saw Redden as the best value that should be in my team come finals.
Thats really why im not intrested in Swallow he wont average high enough to be in my team come finals so there becomes a wasted trade.
Moving Goddard or Martin will weaken my defence or forwardline as itll mean ill have to play an extra rookie there instead of in my mindfield

Thanks for the comment

the best cash cows are mids so your right to skimp on premiums in the mids good call on that 1, porps 80+ that makes him a dead set must have, now you got me thinking why pay 330 for brown or christensen or the likes if porps is going to crack 80's.
I agree with Ringo dont move goddard, the defender rooks are the worst and the choices for premium defenders are not great so lock them away early and forget about them.
If anything i would have suggested to leave it all as it is and change a fwd to a rook to give you money to get another premium mid but to not do so makes sense also :) but all in all it looks like it will work nicely anyway. 2500 finish is a great result, maybe i'll take your advice instead of the other way around :) my team is on a post called colliwoblers maybe you can give me some advice :)
On reading up on gray hurn and dangerfield now im only not sold on dangermouse or port (gray), blee looks the goods and so does rowe and hurn will come close to premium keeper glad iahve him status.

7/10 - purely on firpower in the mids, doesnt mean it isnt a good side
