As stated by me before I really don't care

He is the only captain we have

WHO WILL CAPTAIN   :P

from the team i put together:

Watson
Watson does enough already.....
What Cic, want him to captain, open the batting, and bowl? Why not get him to keep and bowl at the same time, and serve the drinks as well? Why not even coach the team?
You are delusional, seriously. That is why your team sucks, because you arent thinking of, now, just the future where we will have wasted our time playing the younguns as we will be near the bottom of the rankings.

so much hate... we wouldn't be in this position

if we had a proper system that rewards players for playing well domestically
I honestly don't see what's wrong with playing these young guys @ domestic level until they're actually ready to play for Aus.
They will just burn out if we overwork them and they get belted every time they play.

Cic, i think the problem with your idea is not that your taking them from Aus Domestic season to International cricket. It is that I players you have picked have such low first-class experience. Therefore you've pretty much taken them from Grade cricket to International cricket. That is too much of a jump.

Cicjose

you obviously havent seen any domestic 4 day matches this season to have made that comment

elephants

Good move i reckon. I like Magic Mick (you heard it here first)

My opinion on what the current team should be.

1. Phil Hughes
2. Shane Watson
3. Usman Khawaja
4. Shaun Marsh
5. Michael Clarke
6. Next Best Batsman - Ferguson maybe
7. Tim Paine
8. Mitchell Johnson
9. Peter Siddle
10.Pat Cummins
11.Nathan Lyon

12th man: Mitchell Starc

I still remember the game where Haddin and Ferguson were on fire in a ODI, smoking every ball. Scored 15 an over in the powerplay. I want Ferguson to play, but he's 30. I think.
Never realised he was that old. So someone else then - Not really sure  :-\

Ferguson turned 27 2 days agoi

Mickey Arthur?? :-\

If i could've picked anyone it would be Ian Chappell. Obviously he wasn't available.

Ian Chappell was never the coaching type, he's just a writer and a commentator

His brother was India's coach at one point- I think

Decided to change it PB, didn't realise how uneven it looked  :P

Test Team

1. Phil Hughes
2. Shane Watson
3. Shaun Marsh
4. Usman Khawaja
5. Michael Clarke
6. Michael Hussey
7. Tim Paine
8. Mitchell Johnson
9. Steve Smith/Peter Siddle
10. Pat Cummins
11. Nathan Lyon

12th man: Mitchell Starc/Callum Ferguson

Solid team for now and the future. Siddle and Smith alternate depending on pitch.
Ferguson the back up batter, with Wade there if Paine is out.

One Day Team

1. Dave Warner
2. Shane Watson
3. Tim Paine
4. Aaron Finch
5. Michael Clarke
6. Shaun Marsh
7. Cameron White
8. Steve Smith
9. Xavier Doherty
10. Peter Siddle
11. Mitchell Starc

12th man: James Pattinson

Giving some test guys a rest. Finch, Warner, White, Doherty and Starc come in.

Finch has been woeful this season although he is the ideal number 3

Is still a gun and fits the mould as you said.
Won't be long before he bounces back.

Cicjose

And form memory Trevor Chappell was the coach of Singapore. There's your fact for the day!

Yeah, i was a bit hopeful with Ian coaching, it would be fun to see Pups face when he's told no more TV! ;D

here is the plan that Arthur believes we can achieve on the road back to number 1 in the world

The 43-year-old also advocated a more consistent approach in picking spinners, 11 of whom have been tried since the legendary Shane Warne retired.

"Select one and back him in to do a job, give him clear role clarity," Arthur said.

roo boys!

I agree with Mails team. Watson obviously will still make runs opening, but I think it would help him if he was down the order a bit.
