That's not what the article is saying at all. He says that he would have liked to stay in WA, but if that wasn't going to happen then GC was where he wanted to go.

"If I didn't get to stay in WA I was hoping I would go to the Gold Coast so I'm definitely very excited," O'Meara said.

"They were in my top three preferences so I'm very grateful to be able to go there. Obviously they're a very good club and I've only heard good things about them."
