Lost Qualifying final this week after a horrible weekend of SC. Need to win this week to keep my finals hopes alive.

Here's the team:

BACKS: Goddard, Deledio, Fisher, Birchall, Broughton, Grundy, Adcock (Puopolo, Talia, Strauss)

MIDS: Pendlebury, Swan, Ablett, Thompson, Redden, Cross (Mzungu, Hibberd, Irons)

RUCKS: Cox, Jamar (Gawn, J Tippett)

FWDS: Pavlich, Goodes, Franklin, Petrie, Sylvia, N Riewoldt, Higgins (Green, Darling, Richardson)

I have 3 trades left and $53,800. What trades should I make this week to snare the win?

What about...Jamar / Green OUT.

$91700 ruck and Rioli IN.

Leaves you $184300 left to get NDS for Cross next week.

I think you have to throw everything at it this week.

Obviously Petrie to ruck.

Good suggestions. Yeah I'm leaning towards Rioli for Green but I would like to keep the flexibility of having Petrie as an option in both ruck and fwd so would like to keep Jamar as a back up. So trades would be:

Hibberd > Andreoli
Green > Rioli

Team would look like:

BACKS: Goddard, Deledio, Fisher, Birchall, Broughton, Grundy, Adcock (Puopolo, Talia, Strauss)

MIDS: Pendlebury, Swan, Ablett, Thompson, Redden, Cross (Mzungu, Andreoli, Irons)

Can you post your oppositions team.

Rioli has Carlton next who are one of the most miserly teams as well as the Pies/Hawks.  I'm not exactly sure Rioli is going to outscore Mzungu this week, I'm thinking they are going to break even.

Your going to have to look at your team, and look at where the weak points are based on their opposition for this weeks elimination.

Opposition's team with 0 trades left:

BACKS: Scotland, Gibbs, Goddard, Deledio, Fisher, Broughton, Lower (Jacobs, Newman, Hibberd)

MIDS: Pendlebury, Swan, Priddis, Boyd, Cotchin, Montagna (Didak, Callinan, Andreoli)

RUCKS: Cox, McEvoy (McCulloch, J Tippett)

FWDS: Pavlich, Franklin, Petrie, N Riewoldt, J Riewoldt, Higgins, Mzungu (I Smith, Lynch, Chapman)

I listed the weak points, I think needs addressing.

Cross is up against Port Adelaide.  I think Eade would be crazy to put Cross in another tagging role, though it could be on Boak.  I don't think his scoring is going to be that bad.

Redden will be taking on the Pies.  If it is a blow out, his scores might take a hit.

Same applies to Adcock.

I wouldn't start Jamar until he starts showing some form, so moving Petrie to the rucks against Freo makes some sense.  Saying that McPharlin should not be underestimated.

Thompson has Gold Coast, so he should be safe.

Okay, I'm going to give you very out of the box suggestions.

I would almost be inclined to go Darling > Dangerfield.  Last time Dangerfield scored something like 130 against the Gold Coast.  Mid/Fwd types are their worst knightmare.

Just a word of warning.

Richmond vs Melbourne.  I think Head to Head, Melbourne have the wood over Richmond.  Won the last 3 from memory.

So it may be a bad idea if you don't start Sylvia/Green.

Thanks for the advice. Greatly appreciated. Only thing is that I can't afford to go Darling > Dangerfield because i'm $2000 short.

Also, you're right about the Demons, they have won the last 3 against Richmond and I reckon they'll get up on the weekend so maybe it would be an idea to start Green on the field. Green has kicked 10 goals and scored 95, 101, 95 in his last 3 against Richmond too.

Brisbane V Collingwood is definitely a factor too but Redden seems to always put in a decent score regardless of the opposition. I think he averages 8 tackles per game. Adcock is too cheap to trade in anybody decent I reckon. Geez I really don't know what to do..

Can you put both teams side by side for me.  I'll try have a deeper look.

As much as I hate to say it, I think you are going to have to swallow your pride and move Redden on.  He has Pies, WCE, and then Sydney next.

His done his job, it might be time to move on.  I would be tempted to move on Daisy Thomas who is in immense form and thrives in the block buster games.  Also has BL at the MCG which makes him an appealing option.

If your not sure about Green / Sylvia, simply start Mzungu so that you break even with his Mzungu.

The alternative is to grab someone like Dangerfield for just one game, and bench Redden.  Dangerfield is guaranteed a 130+ score against GC.

btw, you probably don't even need to trade, but it will be close.

If you start Mzungu, and bench the correct players, you will probably come out on top.

Melbourne have Richmond, GCS, PTA, so I would be inclined to hold onto them.  They generally suck against teams that can use the press effectively, neither Richmond, GCS, PTA are great at it.

Thanks for all the input charlie. How does this team look for this week?

BACKS: Goddard, Deledio, Fisher, Birchall, Broughton, Grundy, Adcock (Puopolo, Talia, Strauss)

MIDS: Pendlebury, Swan, Ablett, Thompson, Priddis, Cross (Sylvia, Hibberd, Irons)

RUCKS: Cox, Petrie (Jamar, Gawn)

FWDS: Pavlich, Goodes, Franklin, Green, Mzungu, N Riewoldt, Higgins (Darling, Richardson, J Tippett)

So to nullify my opponent I will Trade in Priddis for Redden and swap Mzungu on the field and bench Sylvia. So basically it will be:

Me: Birchall, Grundy, Adcock, Ablett, Thompson, Cross, Goodes, Green

Him: Scotland, Gibbs, Lower, Boyd, Cotchin, Montagna, McEvoy, I Smith/J Riewoldt

charliesheen

You know maybe I am under rating Redden a bit, I have just looked at some of his stats, pretty impressive.

Given the draw, out of these 3 where do you think you will lose most points both short term and the future?

Adcock or Redden vs Pies, WCE, syd
Cross vs PTA, Hawks, Freo

Cross could potentially average less than Redden.  Adcock who knows whats going on with him.

There are a number of other options

Cross > Boyd > to negate his Boyd.  Boyd has a pretty good record against next 3 opponents.
Adcock > Suckling > though not too confident about Carlton
Puopolo > Johncock > who has GCS & Richmond and you can push Adcock to D8.

Melbourne have Richmond/GCS/PTA coming up.
