There will be a lot of commonalities between many teams but there's more to success in fantasy sports than picking a good starting team. However, despite the secret sharing by the HUN I've still got 3 unique players in my team that I'm not seeing very often in others' teams. I guess if those guys all play well then I'll be in pretty good shape.

^ Macaffer is a perfect example. Gun that I'm not seeing anywhere.

Hi All,

Glad to hear everyones opinion. I think the observation that many will average 2000 this year may be true at the start, however I believe that this year will be the true test of SC skill and restraint. There will be a massive drop off of interest my thousands by round six when people realise that they have selected poorly and do not have cover for bye's etc. Watch your weekly position jump up after week 7 if you are still in the game.

i think that this year those with strong strategy and an ability to select some true uniques and cover the byes effectively will triumph. More trades will only mean more early temptation to mess with a poorly selected side.

I am ecstatic that Petrie is out round one and with an early bye. It makes the game more interesting and will force people to think outside the square.
Regardless if the Herald Sun want to try to level the playing field to entice more readers and increase advertising revenue it is important that us serious players show the simple HS reading no hopers that we are a force to be reckoned with and will prevail despite the efforts of the HS.  :) :) :)
Good luck all.

Lol what's so bad about the Herald Sun? People can come on here, or read the newspaper to get some advice. It's exactly the same thing. Neither of them take much time, effort or talent.

This very website does precisely what everyone is accusing the HS of doing

Totally agree. Not a bad thing, but no point in accussing the HS of it. They are great :D

Scare all the Nuff-Nuff's away from him 8). I can sit him out for 1 game ::).

Teams always look similar as most people suggest the same players. Some are good, some go pear shaped (e.g Danger and ZBell last season). I tend to go with gut for the midpricers 8).

*Peace Out Pplz.

a ha its who you put in for the XXXX's and which rookies you trade and when, then we'll see if the herald sun will be able to help out the copycats  Hmmmmmmmmmmmm !!!!!!!!!!!

Is it just me but is the Herald Sun trying to get everyone to have the same team :-[? Along with the help of contributors to this fine site many teams will be very similar.

It will mean that it is those who trade well will be the ones to move ahead and it will be interesting to see if it is a person who goes for a more unique side will come out the overall winner.

Those of us who study hard to get ahead of the pack are undermined by the HS giving away all the best rookies and smokies. I am in a few FF leagues and hope to help them to the top of the standings but am torn over going with the players I want but don't want the same team as everyone else in our league. Time to find a few uniques. Could be a lot of close matches.
Lets hope that a few differences and good trading will make the difference.
Will most teams be: or similar.
Goodard, Gibbs, Delidio, broughton/grimes , Hibberd, Duigan,Otten, Puoplolo , Toy/Stanley/Coad

Swan, Hodge, XXX, XXX,XXX Mazunga, Harris, Swallow,Wallis, Atley

Sandi Jolly/Petrie Zac, Tippet
Riewolt, Krak, Franklin/Rioli, Pav, Chappy, Callinan, Matera, Smith, Richardson

Where'd that guy go?

This is a game obviously built on statistics so everyone always wants the highest scoring players the herald sun only analyses the highest scorers of the round and gives a lot of statistical input regarding previous scoring trends against particular sides the herald sun can't predict when players are going to have a stellar scoring block that is the job of the coach, The Key is when you acquire such players  I.E hodge, Broughton, Ablett before hot streaks thats the key to the game and trading is the most important part example having Dane Swan Early compared too rounds 6 - 11 running at an average of 94.6 in contrast ablett between rds 8 - 15 average 149 including scores of 198 and a heavy captaincy option if you were on the ball and i certaintly was not unfortunately bring ablett in around the time would have been a stellar move and would have catipulted your team into contention inside the top 50 whilst other teams look to follow your lead with abletts price rapidly increasing. Unique picks can be like gold i can see great examples in R.Griffin, Marc Murphy, N Fyfe early on. But this is how the points gap between the top sides and the sides around 1000 points off the mark gets created good trading by the top sides. As you can now see sides are becoming very similar because we have statistically enough information to make good decisions on who to bring in.

Feel free too criticise my team

browndawgg rank 95             tps 38.173

I also have to problem of being very similar and unable to catch the leading group with 6 trades left i am looking too capture the league this year

Just a slightly different view to trading
