Quoted from the article:

QuoteGEELONG defender Marcus Drum has announced his immediate retirement from AFL football.

Drum, 24, who joined the Cats in 2010 after 22 matches over four seasons with Fremantle, did not play a senior match with Geelong.

He suffered a detached retina last season, and then was hit by an Achilles problem, although he returned to play the final four matches in the VFL.

Drum played two matches for the Cats' VFL team this season, but was injured in both. He was set to return last weekend but was prevented from playing by a hamstring injury suffered at training on Friday.

The kid could never catch a break with injuries.

Detached retina?

Obviously did something bad in a prior life.

Bad luck kid. Completely forgot about him!

Was drafted with pick #10 by Freo then on-traded to Geelong for pick 40something

He was going to plug any holes that appeared in our back line. He will be missed, I hope he's got something to fall back on.

Very unlucky for the guy.
Being forced to retire at 24 is a real shame
