Hey All,

I have the option of either bringing in an 8th defender, forward or 7th midfield to cover my finals byes.

Team:

Def: Deledio, Suckling, Fisher, Goddard, Adcock, Enright, Gibbs (Lower, Jacobs, Hunt)

Mid: Judd, Ablett, Pendles, Priddis, J Selwood, Hodge (Harris, Mzungu, Hibberd)

Ruck: Cox, Smith (McCauley, J Tippet)

Fwd: Brennan, Rioli, Pavlich, Sylvia, N Riewoldt, Goodes, Petrie (Markovic, I Smith, Krakouer)

Have $77, 700

Options:

Lower -> Defender under 370k...
-can bench adcock for most games

I Smith -> Montagna

I Smith -> Lecras
-covers all 3 byes of North, Geelong and Carlton
- might not score too consistently

I'd only trade this week if I choose Monty.

What would you do?

How many trades left? Montagna would be the only trade to consider imo, but i'd leave the team as it is unless you have trades to burn.

JBs-Hawks

Went smith to monty last week and covered hodgeys bye beautifully

Sleeken

I have 3 trades left...but I think using one on bringing extra cover in is worth it.

If you need a trade to cover byes, make it when you need cover. Don't just make it this week because you feel like it.
Also, Adcock is hardly a premium... I'd be playing Lower ahead of him.

Yeah that's the problem. Still quietly hoping he'll regain form eventually. Was only considering this week because monty is so cheap.

LaHug

I'd hold for now and see what I need to do later.
Also, why is Lower bolded? He has no byes left.

Because unless Adcock manages to gain say, 30k or someone drops to 320k, I'd have to trade lower and keep adcock as cover. I'll hold for sometime then.

Edit: Oh, I was just bolding anyone of interest, not just people with byes.

Yeah, just noticed Smith as well. Ma bad!

I would trade I.Smith up to a good FOR/MID because your forward line is a bit weak. especially once you put Petrie in the ruck because you don't want to rely on Z.Smith in finals. First game of finals sure but not the lot. You can't afford to count Petrie as a premium forward because of his bye and you don't have another premium ruckman.

I suggest you trade in O'Keefe somehow because you still need to get by week one and must field a excellent side.

To do this I think you should take advantage of Callinan this week and trade out the highest priced non-starter you have to cash up and then wait for the perfect timing to trade 2 other non-starters/fringe up as high as possible. ie I.Smith to Callinan this week will give you $296600 to spend on 2 upgrades towards finals or 1 upgrade and a LTI. I think Birchall for Lower would cover the backline byes well and O'Keefe for the best deal would cover the forward line and midfield. But your choice replacements. Actually I just noticed you don't have Buddy get him.

But wait til closer to finals like the week before before upgrading. Cash-up a bit this week.

Sleeken

Thanks for your response.

The main issue behind my dilemma was not having enough cash to upgrade to a true mid/fwd premium. If I did downgrade Smith, I'd probably upgrade Adcock sooner than Lower but I'm not sure I want to be another trade down so soon. I'll have to think about it  ;).

PowerToWin

if you went Smith to Montagna, then you would have 7 premiums, none of which are DPP meaning you would be benching 1 each week. That would be a waste wouldnt it? particularly when only 2 of them have byes remaining.

if you have to trade, i'd say get Monty but as the others said with 3 left = don't trade if you don't have to!
