Places to stay in Phuket

I am looking to book a holiday to Phuket and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for hotels to stay at.  Preferably if you have experience staying there

We had a great time at "Kata Country House", in Kata beach. Kata is out of the bigger tourist spots, not full of Bogan Aussies.

Full of German, Swedish etc Bogans instead. The place has pool, poolside food & drink etc, but v. reasonably priced. You can book online - and see photos of the place etc - just google it.

*Sorry, haven't been to Phuket but I did have a mate (Pidge) who went and loved the Muhay Thai scene there. He also tells of a particular story which can be best described as 'check your meal if you think you're ordering veg and make sure it's not steak' - if you know what I mean  ;)
