Finals and Byes

Just looking at the teams that have Byes during the Dt league finals and noticed that Geelong have a bye in the second week. Now I personally have Selwood,Chappy and Stevie J so I would really need to get a bye this week (assuming I finish 1 or 2, which looks likely) by winning first round of the finals. I also noticed that the blues have a bye round 23 which noone can avoid which means you either limit your Blues players or trade them out then Back in again. With substantial cash on the line in many comps what are peoples strategies with the finals series in mind?

Never ever trade a premium. No more than one player of each team in each position is my going, should be covered all round.

Never trade a premium goes out the window in finals, I'll give you the tip. Anything to win.

Okay first of all, you would not trade someone out and then in. They will be sacrificial, you trade them to another premium if this is your intent and cut your loss of the other player, ie. RND23 - murphy to a premium you don't have that isn't at essendon.

Second I think its quite possible to fore go a premium for a round in finals if that's your goal (league), so then it is possible to have 2 players considering you should be aiming to have two players playing on the bench in each position during finals. provided you've sought to do this with good mpp, you'll be okay.

Third if its overall, I've decided it'll come down to how many trades I have left. And it'll be not so crucial to burn them rnd 21 but more so rnd 22, 23, and def 24. Its a plan and play it by ear approach.

Ive planned for the finals since my team set up
I dont have any premium Dons
I have 1 Cat (Selwood)
No premium Roos
& 2 blues. (Murphy & Gibbs)
Im sitting around 2600 overall.
I am aiming to be able to double trade each week of the finals and will be trading out the 2 blues before finals...theres going to be some of the old "General Soreness" as always during our finals with coaches resting up their stars for a good tilt at the  finals (predominately saints, pies, eagles as their 2nd byes are around rd 15 etc....if the saints & eagles make it that is!!!)...I dont want to be caught out with having to trade a Cat / Blue and also trying to deal with general soreness when we can only do 2 trades...you cant expect to win a league if your going to have big coin on the bench during finals...well not my league anyway
Its very funny reading peoples posts and showing their teams / trades left / trades their making with no reagard for finals byes whatsoever.
I expect threads like this one to become very common...very soon.....and its waaaay too late for most.....bahahaha

the general is going to catch a few out around finals time

i am chasing the elusive holy grail till round 12 but if i'm not top 100 then league finals will be the focus
i will be watching the top 8 teams very closely in the last few rounds to spot an advantage

But we saw last year that teams opted to players to maintain form and condition them better than rest them. With the season having byes, I'm not sure it will such a big issue. I however have kept trades for this purpose, just in case.
