Ok, I REALLLY wanted to get in Curnow last round, I have believed in him since he was named in round 1.  This is not another who to trade for Curnow thread - but how much MPP do you think we need this season.

I was really concerned about MPP pre season to cover for multi-team byes.  So, I had Prestia/Krak as the rookie link in the FWDS and Heppell/Hibberd as the link in the backs.

I have worked out I have enough cover for the Multi-team byes just using my FWD link.. and whether I should get Curnow in for Hibberd.  Sure he has gone up 70k, but if he averages high each week, he could be a good asset in my mids..

Thoughts?  Should I keep my MPP link?  Maybe I'm just getting an itchy finger.

bring in the curnow train!

So if you bring in Curnow this week, I'm sure you'll trade in Hibberd again after he plays 2 games. Not sure you want to be trading a player out and then back in with trades being like gold this year. Hold on to Hibberd and count your losses that you didn't pick up Curnow at the start of the season.

I thought the same as you did and was in the same situation where I had enough cover from fwds for multi-bye rounds. As soon as I saw hibberd was not named last week I got on the curnow train.

There is a strong likelihood that hibberd will play in coming weeks, and curnow will probably rise to 250k-300k, which as slap said, is probably not worth the trade.

ignoring any more comment on curnow...and trying to answer the original question....

I was not a big believer in MPP last year - honestly didn't worry about it because i was too lazy to think about it...but this year, with all the byes stuffing us around - I think MPP is SUPER IMPORTANT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it's great to be facing the next multi bye round without any donuts and without having to make any trades (forced) - and looking forward, same deal for next multi byes..  and all because of use of MPP

I'm a big believer this year !  :)

i have tried right from the start to have both, a rookie and mid/premo mpp on every line, except ruck, [set and forget sandi and cox, fortunate enough to have smith playing well for ruck cover ]. i just did'nt know what to expect with all the byes.
did'nt get some of the big guns at the start, but doing ok [ave 2,100 at this stage ]. will try to pick them up as the season progresses

If you have enough Gold Coast players the byes should be a breeze to cover.

They have had one bye already, get their second out of the way early on (after which every man, his dog and his DT playing wife will have Gaz Ablett) and so as long as you cover that week they can cover any other multi-round byes i think quite easily.

For example this week I have a full team playing, with four playing emergencies without making any trades. (Made 0 so far for the season as well).

If you don't have the GC players then it could get tricky and the MPP will be more important, but i don't think they are essential. Having said that I have them in Heppell for Def/Mid with a premium def/imd (God/Gibbs) and Prestia/Krak/Pav/Goodes

The other MPP i have, which i think will be more handy than the ones i currently have is Petrie-Tippett. That way i save money by not buying bench rucks and have a backup for Cox and Sandi.

As for Curnow - i didn't get him and won't buy him (had Libba from the start though).

Chopps

Slap same prediciment last week

a few things i guess, i have 1 back gc, 2 mids, 1 ruck, 1 forward
i only have two lines this week with lots of cover needed and i think i will be fine, did need the forward/mid mpp just to sure things up by having goodes in the mid rather then krak (not a big deal though)

i had hibberd, heppel &  krak/ goodes/higgins as mpp, got rid of hibberd for curnow if two trade makes me 200 k i will be happy if hibberd gets named in the next 1 or 2 weeks it will still give me 3 to 4 weeks to get him in before a price change and curnow will have fatten quiet nicely.

at the end of it all you do need to save trades but trades are no good unless you have playing players to trade

Yeah I think if you have enough variety of different teams in different lines, you shouldn't need mpp. I'm going to drop hibberd this week, losing my mid->def link and I decided I'm not that worried about it.
