I also worry about the hacks that consistently turn the ball over in WCE such as Scofield, Jones, Swift, Nicoski etc..
I like the eagles, but if i was coach and had the opportunity to have a completely new team comprised of random players from every AFL team (a sort of lottery), I'd almost go the lottery.

Well at least Jones and Swift arnt getting games and Nicoski so far been productive down forward. Some of the shower that schofield does is inexcusable though and I cannot for the life of me figure out why he allowed to kick out at times. I cringe every time I see him grab the ball behind the goals.

Stop hijacking my thread biatches! Lol i kid i kid.

By the way i got on the Embley train with my 2nd team i made [a team of uniques really] Had to trade Lenny out. But i'm not getting rid of Montagna in my serious team. Will still be interesting to see how Embley scores for the rest of the year.

For the Eagles sake I hope he scores 100+ every week...

I might be hijacking a bit here but I wanted to say that I find it quite refreshing to see a debate that doesnt escalate to personal insults.

I am also an eagles supporter and also cringe when schofield goes near the ball and I wanted to ask Bluke about Eric Mackenzie.

Personally I rate Mackenzie more than Schofield but it seemed last year that Schofield was getting games before Mackenzie. A I missing something there?

Gday Arradin,

I rate Mackenzie higher than Schofield aswell, although they play slightly different roles.

Mackenzie is your typical key defender, he punches well and looks good on the rebound, although he looks less agile than Schofield. As a result, Schofield is probably more versatile, he is very quick and an elite runner. He can play on small forwards and key position players and is thus a more versatile option (although his skills leave alot to be desired).

Mackenzie, rather than competing with Schofield is actually competing with Mitch Brown and Glass. Since Brown moved back into defence he has really come along nicely. He's been in really good form. I've got no doubt that when Glass retires at the end of this year, or possibly next year Mackenzie will be a perminant feature in the Eagles back 6, more than likely taking the FB post, he's learnt a lot back there over the past two years in the absence of glass. I think Brown will take up the CHB role while Schofield will take the third tall or any mid sized forwards.

Mackenzie actually played 18 games last season which is a pretty good return. I dont think he is out of the team because of Schofield to be honest. Rather, I think Brown is in at his expense.

All things considered though, Schofield has really improved since coming to the Eagles, he's an athlete and was very raw. He's shown definate improvement but his skill errors do let him down. I think in two years time the Eagles back six will be one of the benchmarks of the competition.

FB: Shepperd (16 games), Mackenzie (42 games), Hurn (75)
HB: Waters (84), Brown (39), Butler (66)

With Schofield (37) on the pine.

Get another season Mackenzie, Shepp, Brown and they will really start to show their class and dominate games.
