Having trades up your sleeve for later in the season are absolute gold this year more so than any other!

Come rounds 21, 22, 23, & 24 you should seriously be trading out those premiums with a bye during those weeks. The teams affected are NM, Geel, Carl & Ess. I have 3 premiums from these clubs so I'll be making sure that I leave ATLEAST 3 trades for this reason. I think at that time of the season every point becomes absolutely vital, and they could be the best sideways trades that you ever do.

Im saying this right now because all these rookie sideways trades are ridiculous - well in my view anyway. If Curnow manages to play the next 3 games he might go up say $100k. You trade Atley for him because all over a sudden you think that in 2 weeks Atley has gone from someone worthy of being in you team to a very ordinary player. If Atley plays the next 3 weeks he might increase by say $50k possibly, that's a gain of $50k which doesn't actually garuntee you any extra points because Curnow will most likely be sitting on your bench anyway. Why would you sideways trade when no extra points on you field is garunteed?? You are just hoping that you can use that extra $50k down the track to upgrade to someone better than you could have originally traded in. Compare this sideway's trade to a sideways trade that you could possibly be giving up at the end of the year. Say you have Gibbs (which most good teams do) who will miss in round 23. If you have no trades left at that stage would will have to replace him with some rookie on your bench. So instead of getting 100-110 from Gibbs that week you get a 50-60 from your rookie. Instead you could sideways trade Gibbs out for another premium which should equal more point directly from this trade.

This is long winded I know, but I think the sideways trades at the end of the season when the byes could be affecting many coaches when they have no trades left is something that has been overlooked by many it seems. This year is different to any other year in fatasy footy with the byes, so you have to think a little differently too.

Wouldn't it be better at the end of the season to have cheaper premiums as bench cover?

Instead of trading your bye players each week, bench them. By then you should be in a position that not all of your bench are rookies.

If you can do that then power to ya! I plan on keeping Harris as a permanent emergency towards the end of the season which would work as you're suggesting. It really depends on how injuries hit your team.
