I know MMP position have been talked about to death but I would like some feedback on this proposition.

Like many people I am likely to go Sandi & Cox with limited reliable backup with a plan to select J Tippet as a emergency even though I do not think he will play much/at all. The reasoning is that I intend to draft in Drew Petrie as a forward and use the MMP as cover for both byes and injuries.

Hence my question to you all, is having a dud emergency worth the MPP cover it will provide?

I am planning the same Cruise. I don't see why not, as long as the No 3 ruckman is also reliable. In my case I have chosen Smith.

Petrie this year is different to Tippett last year. He is cheaper, the risk is a lot less. I think it's a great idea.

Yeah, I think I'm going to follow the crowd on this one!

It might be different if we there was another decent rookie out there besides Smith, but there really isn't.

Hell, even Smith is looking a bit dodgy, what with not playing any preseason games.

So Petrie as a back up 2nd ruck works well.

tigertops

i think im going along this path also.
petrie will be third ruck, so really ur 4th ruck only needs to be cheapest available, as you have your three covering for eachother....(unlesss suspension)

I'm glad I'm not the only one going down this path. The downside of course is that if Petrie gets injured (not the craziest possibility) then you effectively lose two players.

Is Smith really the only option for 3rd ruck? He won't play until round 4 or 5 I reckon so I'm also factoring in possibly Derickx. Thoughts? Bailey is definitely not an option now.

Fletch74

I've heard that derickx mightn't play Rd 1. the Tigers are looking at Graham and vickery as their rucks, that's why I've gone Smith, but there is also Keefe if he gets a game Rd 1 or not??

Capper

Doesnt look like Derickx will play round 1, if at all this year and with Smith just starting to train now after his bruised heel, who knows when he will start.

Fraser will be the No 1 for GC with the other 4 (Smith, Gorringe, Hickey, Nicholls and Thompson) rotating in as the 2nd ruck.

Keeffe for pies might get a game at the start but for how long, nobody knows.

Therefore i have gone with Sandi, Cox, Keeffe and J.Tippet

bucke

i be running a ruck line of Sandy & Cox, with Z.Smith & Keefe as my emergencies. both of those guys should play!

I'm watching to see if he plays with Box Hill this weekend. Rumour is he'll play with them for a couple of weeks before being given a go with the Hawks as his knee swelled up a couple of weeks ago.

smith is the no 2 at gold coast, they will play him til his body needs a rest

I'm also planning on going with this strategy.

Have toyed with the idea of freeing up the extra ~80k to upgrade J. Tippet to Rhys Stanley, as he'll play more games than Tippet. However Stanley will probably average 40-50 at best, and 200k is a lot to have sitting on your bench to only be used in case of emergencies.

Thoughts?

Bailey has played two half games. The first again Melbourne and the second against Williamstown for Box Hill. Played very well for Box Hill but in both games he finished off the game on the bench icing his knee. They expect this however and feel as though it can be managed.

I can't say I am totally convinced though. I am pretty certain the Hawks see Bailey as the best ruckman at Hawthorn, but at this point they see greater value in having two ruckman on the field at almost all times to ensure 3 rotating midfielder on the bench. Hence the recruitment of Hale. I think Bailey will play with Box Hill for at least a few weeks until they can be certain they wont have to nurse him on the bench for a half of every game.

also toying with this idea, but he is no certainty to play round 1.  my starting rucks are cox and ryder though so i do need some cover, and as it's my fisrst year i have no idea what to expect from richardson, tapscott etc in the way of scores
