Does anyone know if smith is looking at getting any game time early in the year?

There has been a lot of talk about this kid (as high draft picks often get) and there is no doubt the rate of his rise is pretty amazing. It is no surprise though that he isn't quite there yet, he has played so little senior footy at any level.

Expect him to develop over the year and might find his way into the side at some point this season.

It happens quite a lot. Players in the draft get talked up quite a lot given that the focus is entirely on the draft pool. People start to develop a sense that high draft picks are an automatic entry into their club's respective top 22s. The reality of it is that these kids wont even have had one full pre-season and have had no experience of senior footy, both the physicality and speed of the game as well as the defensive focus. Issac Smith is an even more special case in that he hasn't even played a full season of VFL (given that he is a mature recruit).
