After reading the DT Talk Boy's post - http://dreamteamtalk.com/2011/03/01/the-ol-switcheroo-strategy/

I thought of something I can

My team was originally…

Backs â€" 6 guns, Otten, Rookie x3
Mids â€" 3 guns, Swallow, Harris, Rookie x4
Rucks â€" Cox, Petrie
Forwards â€" 5 Guns, Knights, Krakouer.

I tossed up… In backs Goddard > Waters/other (undecided) and then in mids Monty > Goddard. Goddard to be swapped into the backs when Hibberd is good to cash in… therefore I’m set with 7 premium backs before the year even starts.

It also gives the advantage that this method has that I can now select one of the best for Hibberd..

Therefore 2 actual srs midfield guns in Boyd + Swan, + 4 upgrade options, although still starting with 3 premium midfielders and 6 premium backs so that I can utilise Otten, (to be 7 prem backs and 2 prem mids)

It gives me the ability to buy the best and get the best midfield cashcows.

I now also have $113k left over which I used to go Swallow > midpricer and change a few rooks around

Therefore leaving me with only 1 player in my best 22 who hasn't had any AFL experience in my side…

I can also get Monty back in later if he is firing with one of these rooks…

I like this strategy very much now, any criticisms?

I'm now left with $300 and a team that reads...

Backs - 6 Prems + Otten
Mids - 3 Prems, Mid Pricer, 2 Rooks (one being Harris, the other someone who will debut in AFL)
Rucks - Cox, Mid Pricer
Forwards - 5 Prems, Mid Pricer, Krakouer

After using this I can't really see any weakness as Goddard will end up in the backs... Any thoughts on this?

I don't lose any real cash cows as if you count the mid pricer I have 3 cows in the mids playing, plus 3 on the bench...

Therefore what I mean to say...

Is it a wise strategy to use Goddard/otherwise temporarily in the mids so you can shop for the BEST mids of 2011...

Is it a risk or not? What do you think of this idea/strategy..

well all i can say is you do need either heppell, jacobs or hibberd in the backline. I don't really see the point in the strategy, though it is a pretty good one. You should also look at that your missing out on a midfield gun with goddard taking his position, which is a con of the strategy. Though come along a ripe cash cow and you got a 7 prem def, I think your good to go.

Tried it but I just don't like starting heppell and if you're not starting him I think this lessens the value of starting goddard in the midfield - i.e you're not really playing goddard in the midfield you are just choosing to start a back player instead of a midfield rook off the bench. (Hard to say in words but it makes sense when you play around with it)

I think the big thing this year is not to choose a rook who doesn't end up playing regularly - I feel much better choosing 5 mid rooks compared with choosing 4 back rooks - especially as the GC rooks may barely touch the ball...
