Ive currently got 5 premium mids (Pendles, Swan, Bartel, Montagna, Boyd.) All these 5 are dead certainties to be i nthe top 10. Leaving only one upgrade to GAJ at round 10.

Many would think This would be unbalanced, I think there is a lot more value in the backline rookies (likes of Brodie Smith/Andy Otten/JoshToy/Duigan/Coad/Puopollo). I have 4 rookies starting in the backline (one of which is Otten)with the regular 3 premums (lids, gibbs, Goddard). Risks on Grimes and Broughton are unecessary, why not get a proven performer like Pendles instead and wait 8 rounds then decide who will break out in the backline.

In the rucks ive gone with Cox and Sandi, no risk at all.

In the forward line i've got the top 4 premiums imo. Chaps, sylvia, buddy, roo. Slight risk on Sylvia but he is certainly going to be in the top 10 forwards. Knights also earnt a spot with the rest being rookies. Standard forward line.

Why not go with proven premiums who you can back to score 100+ when you really need it instead of guys like Grimes/Duffield who could throw out a 50. Backline rookies are much better than the mids (other than Harris/Swallow.) Guys like Brodie Smith from the crows form what ive seen are absolute jets. The chances are guys like Grimes/Stevie J will drop a lot more than Pendlebury/Swan/Boyd.

simple answer, the mid rookies are the best, much beter than the back rookies. Why start players 1. not guranteed to get games 2. not hight point scorers, when you have guyas like swallow, harris, haff, polec, conca, bennel.

1. Duigan, Brodie Smith (abolute gun, will average 80), Heppel, Toy, Coad, Puopollo, Otten. Who wont get games? Their job security is very high and you save 50k on guys like Polec/Conca who will average about the same for another 50k taking up a valuable mid spot.

2/ Not sure how you can say that. I have Harris, Swallow, Heppel, Mzungu in my mids to enable DPP. I've seen nothing from Conca, Gaff and Polec to show that they will outscore the likes of Brodie Smith and Toy who have shown a lot more.

holzman & footygod....

...there is merit in both of ur arguments

generally l do believe that midfield rooks score more than back rooks.....and there is a much bigger potential upside

but l agree that most if not all of the back rooks mentioned will play.....some of them may not average alot though.....except smith and heppell (both guns!!)

but at the moment this is all just p*ssing in the wind...... the cards will fall in the next few weeks of pre-season... and l think a good balance of both of ur approaches will prevail

Footy God, whilst i reckon your right re 5 premium mids being guns you already have your 6 set with GAJ coming in at rd 10 what are you going to do if there is a gun who steps up and you would rather him instead of one of the others? you have no room to add that gun, ie boyd last year

for me boyd was a stand out that i wanted last year and couldnt because i wasnt going to sideways trade. stanton to boyd (hindsight shows i should of)

having said that jimmy is my tip to be that player so you may be alright if that happens

Mmm...thats the only worry. I have to ry and pick that player with my 5th mid. It will be one Pendles/Jlewood (although not going to get him, too many cats and bye in finals)/Murphy (Gun, full preseason, was only fully fit at round 16 last year). Others that I think could crack the ton average but im not picking are Hayes, NDS, Stanton.

So either Pendles or Murphy at this stage. Both imo 105+ average.

with my structure of 1 starting back rookie and 2 starting mid rookies i have Heppel, Toy, Coad, Puopollo, Otten in the backline with grimes and broughton who are real value. i also have bennel, swallow, harris, krak and gaff in the mids and 4 super premium mids.

I like your thoughts footy god, you got me thinking the players I have as locks for the whole year probably aren't going to get up there enough in regards to top ten. So I just took out Adcock for Duigan and upgraded Daisy (who I think may have a bumper year but still won't get to top 20 probably) to Pendlebury and Anthony to J Bartel. Plus that leaves me with 50 000.

Haven't seen this weeks stats yet and with one more practice round to go I could still try to get Addcock back but the way it looks so far in that side I think at best he'll av 80, if duigan can av around 70ish just till I can upgrade him then i've got two machine guns in the mids instead of cap guns!

Only downside is that I can see me needing 1 even possibly 2 of my cheap backs to be whole season keepers but there aren't any backs I'm desperate to have any how.
