Rookies Per Position

At the moment, I have:

  • Backline - 2 rookies + 3 on bench
  • Centre - 2 rookies + 3 on bench

  • Ruck - 2 rookies on bench
  • Forward - 2 rookies + 3 on bench

Just wondering if anyone else is going with a different theory?
If most people are going with this, is it just because everyone is following each other, or is it possible we've got it wrong and need more or less per position?     ???

Looks like a classic 'GnR' structure to my eye. If you want to upgrade a rookie to a mid priced player you will have to downgrade a Premium player.

If you were after a 'GnR' structure it is fine.

Yeah ok to upgrade a rookie to a mid priced player you have to downgrade a premium player, so where does everyone stand on potential bargains like Foley, L.Anthony, Blair, Higgins etc.

To get full use out of a cheaper player like previously mentioned people, once they rise in price and platau out, it's best to upgrade them to a premium player as well.

So it gets me thinking, if most people have 17 rookies in their team, this leaves 16 others to pick. Out of those 16, how many "bargains" are people getting and what's the maximum players that's worth the risk?

Dempsay, Shaw, Adcock, Greenwood, Hurn, Zaharakis, Dangerfield etc etc etc

Depends on the level of risk you're prepared to accept. To thin the field down a bit, be sure:

1. That price is bound to rise, and rise early (ideally no byes then!)
2. That injury is more than 7-8 rounds away (by which time they're traded out, or became a keeper).
3. That none are second year players.
4. That none are over 30 years old.

Good luck!

PS, this should be in strategy.
