This season MPP is more important than ~10 extra points per round. Especially if you are going for the league win.

If you are a player down which you cant fill due to byes/injury then you will loose ~90 odd points.

On the other hand, I will be all covered.

I'm going to utilise MPP this season, it will be the only season I do so. But I think it will pay dividends in the long run when other teams are getting zeros, but i still have cover.

douche *cough*

Okay looking at a new Backline setup this week.

I had 140k left in the kitty in that team so i've done a shuffle in an attempt to spend it.

Backs are now.

Gibbs
Deledio
Broughton
Grimes
Hargrave
Adcock
Otten

Reserves
Heppell
Faulks
Duigan

In regards to Hargrave, I know he is injured, but I think he will have a better year this year with Harbrow gone. Hopefully he gets his body right for rd 1.)

I still can't understand why you would pick a c/b in the midfield. No other player in the backline will score anything like what Goddard can, same in the fwds with Chappy. There will be lots of mids well over the 100's tho. Put Boyd in the Mids and move Goddard to the Backline. There are plenty of cheap c/b to play around with mpp still.

With Chappy throw him in the fwd line and put another gun in the mids. Again lots of cheap mpp f/c to play mpp with. My team works for mpp over all positions and I didn't pick it that way. I agree that your team has a much higher scoring potential if you leave those spots in the mids open for guns that would ave more than top backs and feds and put God in the backline and Chappy in the fwds.

let him be, u guys have tried to explain the power of MPP and playing them where it matters the most, if he chooses to play them there, then it's a benefit for his opponents who play them correctly =)

I do understand what you are saying.

But consider this, I start Heppell and Mzungu in the mids (provided they play) for their MPP. Once we get to round 12ish I will cash them in.

Now who do I cash them in for? I would prefer to cash them in for the top form mids (Selwood, Bartel, Corey, Montagna, Hayes etc.).

If i want to maintain the integrity of my MPP setup, technically I would have to cash them in on MPP players.

So, Gibbs (who I want in my backline because he will be 100+ this year), Pavlich (who wont have the same scoring consistency he used to because Freo actually have a midfield now), Sylvia... inconsistent...

My point is, why not just have the two best MPP in your midfield from the start. Saves trades and saves me having to trade in lesser scoring mids like Pav, sylvia etc.

There are going to be donuts flying around this season like you would not believe, especially come finals time. Like i said previously, this is the first time I have entertained this strategy, and to me, this season it holds merrit.

So if I stuck to it my team would look like this by rd 22 in the ideal world (no injuries, good trading).

Gibbs, Deledio, Broughton, Enright, Gilbert, Lake, Harbrow

Swan, Goddard, Chapman, Ablett, Boyd, Montagna

Sandilands, Cox

Didak, Green, Goodes, N Voldt, Brown, Gia, Pav

That midfield scores as good as any other around, but I sacrifice 30 points per match (~15 for the loss of chaps and ~15 for the loss of Goddard) out of my forwards and mids.

30 points per week isnt all that much if my opponent has a donut or two. Thats roughly 80 - 200 points that he is down here i'm not.

What this argument comes down to is whether you believe you will or wont be eating donuts come the end of season, and i'm more inclined to think you will be without the flexibility of MPP.
