I notice he is not in the planning for a lot of teams at the moment, obviously due to the Cats having a bye in DT Finals and with most also expected to pick up Gibbs in defence that leaves you with two premiums to potentially have to replace either through the bench or trades.

He has been mentioned as one who could perhaps spend more extended time through the midfield this year to help pick up the slack with Ablett's departure.  There are a heap of options at around his price range, with most seeming to have a crush on Broughton, who has also been mentioned as being groomed for a more midfield type role in 2011.

Would the fact that Enright is reasonably durable as compared to a Broughton come into calculations?  I.e. Enright has played 21/22 games in each of the past couple of seasons compared to Broughton's 15 games.

I'm guessing it will depend on whether you are going for the car or a league win.  Thoughts?

Enright started attracting tags last year and he didn't always handle them that well, perhaps that could be putting people off.

+1 - that's the concern i've seen in most of the threads from people weary of him. that and his age (in terms of prime fantasy age bracket anyway) ...

browny_wce

Im looking at him!  ;D

he may have been tagged mid year but I think he pushed thru it towards the end of the year where it saw him increase his numbers across half back and the wing

the fact of the DT finals bye, if your teams going good enough you could have a decent stand-in for him to then let him loose in the following game as a real unique (as most who have him would probably trade him out) or at least he should be priced high enough at the end of season to allow u to trade him to virtually anyone (even if it entails a double trade)

dont think he will be in much team this year, good player but theres better fantasy players around same price

im with j959. i have a concern about his age. putting enright against broughton, there are quite a few years between them, with broughtons best yet to come. you would have to think enright has seen his best days already.

Enright can't handle a tag - if he plays well he WILL be tagged.  He categorically did NOT "learn how to handle the tag" later in the season - he just stopped being tagged as he wasn't playing well.  Geelong have more than enough people to take up the slack of Ablett leaving - look to Chappy and some of the younger players (such as Hogan) to take up the slack in this area.

As a Geelong supporter, I certainly hope your joking ..?? .. Corey Enright still adds great value to the geelong team.

Looking at the cats defenders I'd rank their season longevity in the following order -

1st Corey Enright - 29yrs old true, but seen as the most damaging of the geelong defenders, attracts tags. All class.
2nd Harry Taylor - Only 24, cats best option at CHB.
3rd Matthew Scarlett - Ever reliable conceding few goals, strong 1 on 1. Age may catchup with him as he is 31yrs old, until the cracks are evident. Hes one of the 1st picked.
4th Andrew Mackie - Unaccountable at times, Good user of the ball. Found himself on the outer at the cats at the end of the year, rightly or wrongly .. Best mates with gary jr. Yet another reason why i dont blame gary for leaving. Thanks bomber. Hopefully revitalized under the new regime.
5th Josh Hunt - Again 29 yrs old, Valuable for his long accurate kicking .. alittle more hit and miss than in recent years. If he continues to cough up the ball, may find himself on thin ice.
6th Tom Lonergan - inconsistent at times frustrating the faithful. Given big tasks on opposition gun forwards week in week out.
7th David Wojcinski - Played some blistering footy last year running off halfback or on the wing. Hes down this far due to his age (30) and that his gamestyle has to catchup with his hamstrings eventually. *fingers crossed hes injury free*
8th Darren Milburn - Old, slow, unaccountable. Should have been retired last year. Amazingly returned a brilliant fantasy avg score last year in both forms of the game .. Chris Scott will be watching for any chink in the armour.  Jeremy Laidler was his likely successor. Many others lining up now tho.

If Andrew Mackie is the cats fourth best defender you are in serious trouble...

i have no doubt that enright, or the rest of the geelong defence are good players, but when discussing players on FanFooty, they are only relevant if they make good fantasy scores. same reason you would be crazy to pick presti from the pies. he might do his job if noone scores on him, but it doesnt show on the stats and points in SC or DT.

ahhhhh i figure i misinterpreted the quote i responded to. I believed it to mean that Enright wouldnt PLAY many games with the cats this year.

Still, was an interesting exercise.

diddley

i am sure enright wont really have a problem getting games, unless he starts to have a massive landslide of form, or an injury, which brings the topic back to his age. its a fact of life that the older you get, the more chance of injury, and also more chance of lengthy time off because of injury. just look at richos last couple of years.

McRooster

It was only a couple of weeks ago James Kelly (once Kelly was named single position mid) was turning into Corey Enright in a few teams, nothing should have change that.

For some reason i just cant see myself picking him
