Was thinking the other day about Pies Captains, and there successes.

Tony Shaw was a Norm Smith medallist, Premiership Captain.

Gavin Brown embodied Collingwood every match he played.

Nathan Buckley was a champion in an often-struggling team.

Scott Burns was rewarded for huge service to the Magpies.

Nick Maxwell surprised everyone and is now All-Australian and a Premiership Captain.

I wondered about Buckley's Captaincy at times. Especially early in his career. And although he is the best player of that lot, and Nick Maxwell probably the least of the players there... I thin k I'll give it to Maxwell.

His recent brilliant perrformances in the Grand Finals may have blinded me a bit, so what does everyone else thing?

A great captain takes the front line when there is danger. Only then will people appreciate your leadership.

Shaw, Brown and Maxwell have that quality but only 2 have premiership captain on their cv.

Of Shaw and Maxwell only one has a Norm Smith but that is an individual award rather than a recognition of leadership.

If you were going to war, you'd want Maxwell IMO.

I will vote Nick Maxwell if he shaves that miniature beaver from under his botom lip.

There's heaps of openings there but Ssshhh. Shaw for me still tho 1990 broke the collywobbles theme at last then. 32 years between drinks.

Remember D Millane being in this side

Surely Tony Shaw and Buckley are the top 2 ;D
