Summary:

Stephen Milne scored 48 goals in 2010. For those of who are fans of Stephen Milne, I'd stop reading now, because that's the only thing good I have to say about him.

Early in the year people were calling for Milne to make the All-Australian team. These people were wrong. To think that Milne was ahead of, despite his goal tally, LeCras, Green, Chapman, Didak and Thomas, etc was laughable. You know why? Cos those players can actually play in the midfield, can actually stand up and be counted for. Milne goes missing in big games. He is a liability to the Saints.

I'm being harsh, but he is up there with my least favourite players. And with a standard deviation of 37.51, you'll begin to see why. Wow! He scored 5 goals straight against the Dockers in round 4! Only to follow it up with -1 in round 5. That's right. NEGATIVE ONE - and he wasn't even injured. Milne scored under 70 a whopping 13 times, under 50 7 times. Under 10 twice. Under 0 once. His average against top 4 sides in 2010 is 43.5 from 4 matches. In fact, if you take away rounds 9-12 his average plummets to 56.18.

Side note: The Saints had a terrific draw, they only played other top 8 teams nine times during the season. To put that in perspective, Essendon played top 4 sides EIGHT times this year.

The Crystal Ball:

Based on last year's magic number
Price: $352,300

Based on m0nty's fanplanner
Price: $335,400

Position: FWD

His output will decrease in 2011.

Decision:

No. Unless St. Kilda play Fremantle 22 times. Milne likes Freo, he scored 138 and 129 against them.

CrowsFan

No way will I ever choose to have Milne in my side!
But interesting stat about his scoring against Freo, maybe if the Saints are playing Freo in round 22 I will consider him for the final...
