Well, I think he should of made it like many others, first I would just like to point out something Luke Darcy wrote for the AFL Site.

QuoteLET'S have a look at a few of the All Australian selections and non-selections.

Quoteenny Hayes' non-selection has probably caused the biggest stir. I think everyone is staggered that he didn't make it. People have been saying that Chris Judd was the most obvious one to make way, but for mine it would have been Collingwood's Scott Pendlebury or St Kilda teammate Leigh Montagna who would miss out. Lenny does the grunt work all the time, and for me, that would get him in.

Often Darcy isn't spot on, but this is a perfect view.

I can't really see Judd coming out for Hayes, yes Judd was on the bench, but why take him out when he's not the worst? To me, Pendlebury is Judd Jnr, just modified a bit, and not up to his level. They are both game-breakers, Judd is better and more experienced at that role, that's why I think Judd should stay.

Another one he noted was Joey Montagna. I believe that it should be Joey out, and Hayes in. Montagna plays a lot like Dane Swan to me, gets given the ball and uses it.

Thoughts?

First of all: Judd is the best player out of all those players. But I believe Pendles, Hayes and Monty had better 2010, considering the games Judd missed.

Hayes was in my team, Judd wasn't. That would be my major change to the team to be honest.

First up I had Hayes in my AA team. However it isn't a science, it the collective view of some experts of our game. It is subjective and we have to remember that.

The suggestion that Joey, like Swan, is often given the ball is accurate and I used to view this as lesser to someone who earns his on ball. It is a criticism I used to have of Goodes. However I now feel that everyone has their strengths which define their role within a team. Teams need outside players.

Watson is an amazing inside player but has few players of quality to give to ball to. Hawthorn also struggles with too many inside players and not enough fast consistent outside players.

There are many players in the list of 40 that are unlucky (and maybe a few outside it). The opinion just went a particular way and if it went a different way we would probably be asking where Montagna or Judd were.
