Our midfield might be full of big names, but it isn't a particularly balanced one. Also the tag of "premiership player" has made some players a protected species which is something the Hawks are looking to change. Look for much more of a meritocracy this year for the Hawks.

Totally different type of player and I think you are very much underestimating how highly they rate the kid.

Hawka

i know how highley they rate thios guy i reckon he will b a gun but i just reckon it mite b hard for him to get into the team this yr

MTTY

I too know that he is a good player but i think they might try Smith and Hallahan in a few games before they commit to playing one of them

Hawka

i reckon smith will play rnd 1 as a small fwd

I think I have said this before but I'll give my right arm if Hallahan plays this year unless in drastic circumstances (like a virgin blue plane crashes with the rest of the side).

Smith is a good chance for the forward flank but Hallahan is tough inside midfielder. The Hawks already have too many players of his ilk in the 22 at the detriment of speed. Hodge, Mitchell, Burgoyne (although he has some pace), Sewell, Lewis. Lose one or even two of these players and I think the club would favor pace as a replacement.

Look to see the Hawks experiment with Shiels on the wing.

I had to look him up just to see who he was  :P

That's never a good start, but good luck to him  :)

Played 11 games in his first season when he was the youngest player on any AFL list and doing year 12 at the same time. He only trained once a week and had pretty much no pre-season so it was a pretty amazing effort.

Was probably judged too harshly on his performance but still got around 15-20 disposals most games.

Kid is still just 19 even though he has had 2 years of senior footy so he still has a lot of time to develop.
