From the Age.

"Essendon have received a boost after a disappointing AFL season by announcing the re-signing of stars Scott Gumbleton, Mark McVeigh and Kyle Reimers"

In the scheme of things do these guys really qualify as stars?

Reimers might make star potential. McVeigh a good contributor, and Gumby maybe a solid kpp. But none 'stars' at this present moment (only Jobe and Dustin)

+1 I agree with that, although I really think Gumby has the potential to be one.

See thats the problem, questions like this are quite revealing..and depressing. You have to ask yourself why haven't guys Stanton and Winderlich become good enough to be considered stars. Something has just gone wrong.

A few Essendon supporters have complained this year about the number of times players get dropped or don't get into the senior side even though they are easily good enough. It sometimes happens that when there is little pressure from younger players for a place in the team, senior players can become lazy and conceited.
It's happened to Geelong several times in the past. especially in the 70's and 80's.Knights has not been afraid to drop name players who he doesn't think is contributing, and as a result has unearthed one or two younger players who look real good. next year there may be a bit more competition for places in the team and as a result, a better performance from established players.
Geelongs reserves aren't  doing that well, as a matter of fact I think they are going to miss the finals, but there are 3 or 4 players who can play senior football when needed. Maybe the Dons will be in a similar position next season.

Yep. If Gumby can fix his kicking action and play next few years with little to no injuries, should be a great contributor.

Mcveigh is probably a former star. Now he's just a solid and experienced player for us.

Hawka

gumby could b a star but remiers will never b

Hawka I think Reimers is definitely capable. He is pretty damn quick and strong-ish through the hips could get a gig as a midfielder next year which is what I would like to see :P
Gumby will be a star. If he is fit, there is no doubt, watching him in juniors will put any doubt you had out of your mind. He was amazing, this year has been great for his confidence just to get through without injuring himself.

Hawka

no doubt remiers can b but dont reckon he could be a consistent every week star more of a awesome 1 week shockin the next few

Alex7089

Yeah probably, will be one of the ones that makes us want to rip out our hair gauge out our own eyes and continuously poke them with pins just so you don't have to watch him any more...
