A fair bit in the press today about Buddy's "natural" kicking arch. If it's an issue, and I think he does get an advantage from it, can't the umpie just make him kick over the man on the mark?
In other words start his arch closer to the boundary.
Then he wouldn't run "off" the mark and he would get no advantage.
Imagine in a final he got a kick near the boundary and used his "natural arch" to open the goal face a bit and kicked an improbable goal.

If the Umps know who has the "natural" arc, maybe move them 2 or 3 metres to the other side (so for Buddy 2-3m right). Will even out their arc with not much advantage if any at all.

Agree. Think its a bit unfair on players who kick directly over the mark. I magine if AFL players decided to start kicking like Rugby players and go at right angles... Joey was unlucky last week, it looked as though Buddy had played on.

Very easy for the umpires, just a couple hundred players, It's all cool  8)

as a junior footballer we are taught to go on our 45's (45 degrees).. coz if you go straight over the man on the mark.. .it will easily get smothered...

Fair dinkum, just let the blokes kick!

the true arc can be seen when he kicks
from the opposite side the free kick was paid
from, when his left leg is boundary side he still
runs hard out to the left ;)

Yeah, this issue I simply don't care about.
