How much did the AFL have to pay for the Suns name?
After all NBA side Phoenix Suns forced Townsville to change their name, why are the Gold Coast allowed? - answer $$$.
Now before you say it's a different ball game and Townsville was forced to change because of using it in the same code, please consider the LA Lakers stopping South Melbourne Soccer Club from using "Lakers".
Q posted somewhere a couple of months ago about the AFL's pool of money and its distribution, I'm beginning to agree that the teams lower down financially will begin to sink ie. Port Adelaide and the game/competition as we love it will begin to die under the poor allocation of funding.
If big money is being used to pay off foreign corporate entities, rather than supporting grass roots, we will watch as it slowly dies.

I guess because "Lakers" is an unique and iconic term. But it is a good point

AFL is strong still, still the best sport in the world IMHO.

I reckon team 19 Tassie and team 20 New Zealand by 2025.
