Ossie's Antelopes face selection quandries

It is a cut throat business, this fantasy football. As one Lenny Hayes found out. Hayes withdrew with an ill-defined 'back' injury last week, and despite having cover in Antelope young-gun Jarryd Blair, coach ossie85 decided to use the final trade on Lenny Hayes, bringing in superstar Joel Selwood. As it turns out, in the benefit of hindsight, Blair's 90 would have sufficed and gotten the Lopes over the line.

This has left the Antelopes exposed on grand final week however. With no trades left, injury and suspension concerns - particularly in the backline - have caused a headache, as ossie85 hopes and prays that things go okay during the week. The Antelopes will go in favourite in one league, but underdog in two others.

Backline
Beau Waters is currently facing the MRP after disappointing his team mates with a reckless bump on the weekend. With club champion Luke Hodge under an injury cloud, and Ben Nason and Jerome Webberley maybe also unavailable for selection, the Antelopes could face the very real prospect of playing with 2 men down in the backline. If Waters gets suspended, coach ossie85 is said to be so irate that he would rob Waters of a chance for a premiership medallion and start an unnamed Nason or Webberley in his stead.

"He has left himself, his team mates, and most of all me down" ossie85 was quoted as saying.

Backline: Goddard, Hodge, Enright, Malceski, Duffield, Hargrave, Waters <Nason, Webberley>

Midfield
Cautious optimism here - with no concerns thus far with the starting 6. Jarryd Blair's services maybe called on if required, who has been in good form, while Jordan Gysberts services are not required. The decision of who to play as the 6th midfielder (Chapman, Harvey, O'Keefe, Goodes) will be decided based on injury concerns.

Midfield: Swan, Ablett, Selwood, Montagna, Chapman, Mitchell <Blair, Gysberts>

Ruck

#1 and #2 ruckmen Sandilands and Ryder were both absent from last week's preliminary final victory. The two should hopefully be back at full fitness for the GF. If not, Tippett or Warnock may have to step up, with Lobbe maybe filling out 4th spot depending on forward positions.

Ruck: Sandilands, Ryder <Tippett, Warnock>

Forwards

This is where the biggest selection dramas occur, opposite to the backline. If there is a fully fit forward line, it means that O'Keefe, Hall, Tippett and Dennis-Lane will be fighting for two spots. Dennis-Lane's heroics are hard to ignore from last week, but may very well be the unlucky player, with Hall playing against the defenseless Bombers.

Forward: Harvey, Goodes, O'Keefe, Franklin, N. Riewoldt, Brown, Hall <Dennis-Lane, Lobbe>

Captaincy

May very well back Gaj against the Eagles

Backline might tear your team apart in the biggest game of the year :(.

nas

Backline could be a donut.
Mids hopefully the General stays away (GAB & Chappy).
Fwds will Brown play now that 200 is done n dusted?

Mids > Would mean if above occured Chappy to Fwd bench & say ROK to Mids & Blair for GAB & no cover
Fwds > Lobbe > Ruck & say Tips to Fwd & TDL as Res
Rucks > Sandi & Ryder play but Warnock if 1 not playing)
Backs > Then means if those 2 are out a choc Krusty Kreme if no reserves are named.

Now if that all above happened would really give you the willies!!!!

Have a nerveous wait till Friday & good luck. LOL

Ah, Waters has been cleared this makes me happy.

Now, waiting on Hodge....

CFC 1979

presuming you win ossie who is your tip for Norm Smith medal ?

ossie85

I'm not assuming a win, Onetooth, the 77s and the HellsBells are very good teams, and I won't do a Terry Wallace and start handing out premiership rings lol.

..... but I'm backing Sam Mitchell to repay the faith :)

Jonathan Brown is out, but more horribly so it Luke Hodge....

Ben Nason named on an extended bench, so I'll hope and play Richmond go with a bit of flash.

I'm choosing Dennis-Lane over Tippett, because Tippett against St. Kilda and can't see him scoring well.

Grand final team:

B: Waters, Malceski, Hargrave
HB: Goddard, Duffield, Enright
C: Chapman (V-Capt), Swan, Selwood
HF: Harvey, N. Riewoldt, Goodes
F: O'Keefe, Franklin, Hall
Foll: Sandilands, Ablett (Capt), Montagna
Inter: Nason, Mitchell, Ryder, Dennis-Lane
Emerg: Blair, Warnock, Tippett

In: Nason, Sandilands, Ryder, O'Keefe
Out: Hodge (inj), Warnock (omitted), Brown (inj), Tippett (omitted)
