Seven this year;

Nick Maxwell (capt)
Scott Pendlebury (v-capt)
Dane Swan (deputy v-capt)
Shane O'Bree
Harry O'Brien
Heath Shaw
Darren Jolly

with Josh Fraser and Tarkyn Lockyer 'voluntarily stepping down' from the 2009 group.

Big statement from the pies with Heath Shaw, showing great confidence in Harry O'Brien and obviously Darren Jolly has made a big impact.

Any thoughts? Should we be concerned Fraser has stepped down?

MC

Yeah, not only has Jolly taken his post as No. 1 ruckman, also his leadership possie! Funny there aren't any forwards in the leadership group though, they're the only area missing. I suppose no one has really stepped up to lead by example quite yet though, hopefully soon!

Harry O could be one of the most grounded people in the AFL. Obviously has his head screwed on the right way, and is a very influential and inspirational person. Great bloke.

CFC 1979

Fraser hasn't stepped up his entire career

Good move by him

Poor Frasier he is looking a bit worse for wear

well lockyear had his time. was a pretty good guy on field from what i saw. too bad they made him "voluntarily" hand over the spot.

finally o'bree gets some recognition for all those years at the pies.

Right on with the Harry! I loved watching him being interviewed last year. He is such a placid and got it together kinda guy.
Did you know his real name is Heritier ..little bit of trivia for ya's

I think fraser is just letting the younger talent step in.

SCADDICT

Malthouse rates Pendles a leader but not as a midfielder, farkk, so sick of him playing Pendles in obscure positions this year.
