i was just wondering this because if i keep grimes, will he be back to play when i need him if this is the case?

Not in your leagues you dont..
I am thinking of keeping him in my S/C team and risking Suban or Petrenko coming in to cover him for R1, it will save a possible trade by doing this, instead of recruiting someone you really dont want..
