People keep wanting to get bigger name players later down the track because of the cost of the player changing. Why not just get your major premiums early and follow up with upgrading your low end ones with lower priced premiums?

It's the way to play to an extent....

If you stock your side full of massive names your side won't increase in value therefore you won't have the spare cash to buy the bigger name...

Someone like Rich or Ziebel, whilst they will increase in value, they wont increase enough to give you enough money to make a direct trade with a gun

i actually agree with XabiJay. The real guns (hodge, ablett, cox, franklin etc) wont drop down to 400K levels, but the lesser guns may. Those are always my targets-i never buy players >500K

you mean <500K...otherwise your contradicting yourself

The trade-off with starting more guns is you have to start more rookies .... and these give significantly more capital growth which can offset smaller losses in the value of said guns. Of course, rookies are inherently risky creatures so it is a more aggressive strategy.

I find I am starting more guns than ever this year because of the depth of talent in the draft.

The way i view it you can use your emergencies to trade for extra $$$ and add that to the value of increase on your mid value players

Your strategy may put you with geniuses of the SC game who think Franklin will never drop down to a price cheaper and MUCH more reasonable.
Refer to: 56, 38, 18, 59, 66, 59, 43, 59 scored in last year's season by Franklin.
Trades are valuable but if you stock a team full of high priced guns that are already at their price peak you are going to miss out on a maximum value increase in your team that will rule you out of seriously challenging for that $50000.

bluebaggas

its all about a good balance..
also do you really want to risk not getting franklin and missing out on a huge week

knighty

Exactly. No doubt they will drop in price eventually, but what if it takes until round 20 until they're at that 'reasonable' price?
If you want the best, you have to pay for the best.

TigerFever

According to the FanPlanner i have
13 premiums/5 mid/4 cheap
8 rookies on the Bench
I think that is pretty strong formation???
