Defence rises for EurAsia in 'Mare for Mids

What a week for all the mids to go missing! It certainly went around in the socials, countless people showing screenshots of their 'premium midfield' without a ton among 'em. As a result, it was much the same in our blockbuster clash, with only EurAsia's Jordan Dawson (NDT) (117) and Erol Gulden (Rome) (106) eeking out centuries, and Mexico City's LDU (147) bucking the trend with a superb performance for AAP.

The difference between the two sides favoured the underdog, with EurAsia able to pull together a first rate defence scoring 560 between them, led by Roman Dan Houston (174) in a simply amazing BOG performance. The other key determining factor was the captains - with both coaches opting to use their own players - Seoul's Max Gawn (132) stood up whilst BAs Caleb Serong (96) shirked the contest, making way for a comprehensive victory to EurAsia in clash 1.

But has EurAsia overextended itself in Game 1?

AAP Alliance (26.8.164) lost to EurAsia (30.7.187)

Salty seconds

Oh, Joel Amartey! JB was never picking the previously 48-averaging forward, but it would have been a mighty score.

Hugh McCluggage is a score gone begging, whilst Sam Flanders is still sticking out like a sore thumb for AAP.
