1.   Pledge an amount (e.g. $5) for every time LaHug nails the top captain of the round.
2.   Pledge an amount (e.g. $5) for every time LaHug's POD cracks the 120 mark.
3.   Pledge an amount (e.g. $5) for every time LaHug gets egg on his face and his number 1 scores under 100.
4.   Make a once off donation.

Did you know that this is the 9th year I've done this? I'll continue to help with a smile and free of charge but, if you want to thank me, please donate to my charity efforts! Each week I will tell you some statistics on a player's last 3 games, their last 3 against this week's opponent, and their last 3 at this ground. I will also do a quick overview on my thoughts and have a guess at their score for this week. From all this, I'll give you my top 5 captain choices for the week and a speicial POD choice.

The facts & thoughts:

Zach Merrett
Last 3: 98, 126, 114 (113 avg)
Last 3 against Port: 113, 121, 151 (128 avg)
Last 3 at Docklands: 114, 102, 99 (105 avg)

After a poor showing against the Suns last week, Merrett should bounce back quickly at home. He likes to play against the Power. Prediction - 125

Nat Fyfe
Last 3: 113, 128, 61 (101 avg)
Last 3 against Geelong: 117, 110, 116 (114 avg)
Last 3 at Perth: 61, 133, 104 (99 avg)

Fyfe needed a good junktime quarter to get his score last week but that's what makes him so reliable. The Cats aren't easy to score against but Fyfe should still be ok. Prediction - 115

Patrick Dangerfield
Last 3: 107, 97, 123 (109 avg)
Last 3 against Fremantle: 115, 134, 118 (122 avg)
Last 3 at Perth: 102 (102 avg)

Danger loves to play the Dockers but his form isn't very exciting. He should be good but there'll be better. Prediction - 120

Max Gawn
Last 3: 128, 101, 105 (111 avg)
Last 3 against Richmond: 112, 143, 142 (132 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 129, 148, 132 (136 avg)

Big Max adores playing the Tigers and adores playing at the MCG. I can't see a reason he won't be ths highest scorer this week. Prediction - 135

Brodie Grundy
Last 3: 79, 181, 129 (130 avg)
Last 3 against Gold Coast: 151, 86, 142 (126 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 79, 100, 95 (91 avg)

Grundy let us down when the hype was at its highest last week. He likes to play the Suns and scores well despite Witts being a strong opponent. Prediction - 130

Adam Treloar
Last 3: 130, 111, 121 (121 avg)
Last 3 against Gold Coast: 101, 134, 78 (104 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 130, 102, 124 (119 avg)

Treloar almost feels like a POD again this week with how popular the two rucks should be. He enjoys the Suns matchup and they're still a friendly team to face for gun mids. Prediction - 130

Patrick Cripps
Last 3: 141, 55, 94 (97 avg)
Last 3 against West Coast: 138, 109 (124 avg)
Last 3 at Docklands: 55, 67, 151 (91 avg)

I can't trust Cripps but boy do I want to. His ceiling is clearly great and he's scored two tons from two tries against the Eagles but he's been poor in his last two games at Marvel so I'll pass. Prediction - 105

Dayne Zorko
Last 3: 118, 103, 102 (108 avg)
Last 3 against Bulldogs: 134, 115, 94 (114 avg)
Last 3 at Gabba: 103, 143, 80 (109 avg)

Zorko has been pretty decent in recent weeks but was flying a bit earlier. Expect him to fly again this week as he plays the Dogs who he enjoys to rack it up against. Prediction - 125

Jack Macrae
Last 3: 127, 132, 110 (123 avg)
Last 3 against Brisbane: 98, 155, 126 (126 avg)
Last 3 at Gabba: 126, 94 (110 avg)

Macrae was good again last week and has some great history against the Lions. In DT, he feels like the safest follower if your VC fails. In AF, I'd prefer the rucks but he should be good. Prediction - 130

LAHUG'S POD!

Rory Laird
Last 3: 92, 79, 98 (90 avg)
Last 3 against St Kilda: 101, 120, 115 (112 avg)
Last 3 at AO: 79, 98, 116 (98 avg)

What happened to Rory Laird? A high score of 115 this year doesn't make for a great captain choice. However, he scored 138+ three times last season and comes up against the Saints this week. He usually likes playing them and I really feel he's due. Potential - 130

The verdict:
1.   Max Gawn (135)
2.   Brodie Grundy (130)
3.   Jack Macrae (130)
4.   Adam Treloar (130)
5.   Zach Merrett (125)

not worried about sutcliffe vs zerrett?

Whitfield still had 19 kicks and 6 marks last week so it wasn't exactly a strong tag but you're right that it should be taken into consideration. I'd only consider Zerrett as a DT VC anyway.
