Fairly settled here surprisingly. Feels relatively vanilla but I'm happy.

Defence: Think Laird/Simpson/Hibberd pick themselves, LMac & Kolo tempting. Brayshaw showed enough in JLT to hold onto his spot. Rookies fairly stock standard. If Cumming doesnt start I can swap Finlayson back and bring in another MID rook.

Midfield: 5 guns, no surprises. Think Lovell has been forgotten about and would not be surprised to see him be one of the highest averaging rookies this year. Martin I'm still considering, probably at Treloar's expense.

Ruck: Fairly stock standard.

Forward: Wingard & Dunkley are probably the two most out-there selections here. Both I feel have merit. Dunkley averaged 80 in his debut year, 87 in finals. Spent last year ravaged by injury and feel he is primed for a breakout and supremely underpriced. Wingard I've spoken about elsewhere, but a home average of 110+ and a feeling he will be in the midfield a fair bit more this year has me excited.

Thoughts and feedback always appreciated!

I'm going to need a bigger picture bud.

Right click, open in new tab and zoom? Not sure how to resize tbh. :-[

Glad that works. I've been getting a few screenshots in emails at work that look like that all the way through.

Probably wouldn't grab Brayshaw down back. He's a concussion away from career over and at his price is not worth the risk. I don't think the scoring potential is that enticing for the risk either.

I like the midfield. Neale could be a good POD with everyone grabbing Fyfe in both formats. I've been trying to squeeze him in but can't. If you're not sold on Treloar I think downgrading Brayshaw and turning him into a Duncan/Martin/Zorko type could really add to your team.

I'm not sold on Stef this year, at his age and with how much ruck work he has done over the last few years there have been signs of breaking down. There aren't a lot of options in the ruck so I understand the pick, but I would also be tempted  to grab someone else. Thing is the question becomes who?

Don't mind the Wingard pick. A lot of questions on who plays where at Port but he is young, improving and a gun. Probably wouldn't go with Dunkley, I prefer Tom Bell but that's my man crush bias creeping in. I probably wouldn't grab Barlow either. Coming off a broken leg and I don't believe he played JLT. If he stars, grab him post weird bye. Also having Barlow and Chad with the same bye is not ideal. It's donut city that week.

Cheers Mat,

Unrelated, but wouldn't mind your thoughts on Kade. Think there's too many question marks on him but I don't like Yeo and there isn't many others I'd back to match his output. Lloyd is an option but there isn't too much else around?

Who else is there outside of Brayshaw? Byrne looks good but does he have the scoring potential to average over about 70? I haven't actually watched him play so I can't answer that, maybe you can as a blues man? Bonner will start Rd1 but has very shaky JS already and once showertard returns it will be even worse. Who else is out there? Is 3 onfield rooks the way to go maybe?

Cheers, feel Neale is underpriced and should be at minimum a 105+ as long as Ross doesn't play him forward for extended periods of time like he did last year. I have concerns over all 3 of the guys you mentioned, but I can see the point you're making about guys in that price bracket, certainly food for thought.

Good point on Stef, he was fairly reliable for me last year but will concede that he is getting older and the signs are there. Grundy has the Cox issue, and I just feel in the back of my mind that Goldy is a trap. Can Kreuzer back it up? So many unknowns, maybe I should just go Sauce and be done with it. :P

Cheers mate, the whole Rd10 bye thing hadn't crossed my mind at all, so appreciate you bringing that up! Out for Billings straight away. Wingard just may be a feeling that I get completely wrong, but with the guys coming in, I feel that someone like him is currently missing from our midfield and wouldn't be surprised to see him either there more often than not or rotating mid/forward more often instead of just being stuck in the pocket. According to FF these were his numbers H/A and in different positions.

2017 avg: 92.2
Uninjured: 94.5
M or M/F avg: 107.5
pocket avg: 84.4
Home avg: 108.5
Away avg: 79.3

If only he played every game at AO, eh? :P Still, I'd expect a slight uptick at worst, and I'm happy to take that risk.

Thanks for the tips mate!

Simpson isn't a bad pick at all.  He's not in my team at the moment, but he was in there at one point.  I just couldn't fit him in when I did a reshuffle.  He'll be a top 6 defender though, as will Lloyd.  Just depends on which one you think will have the better start to the season.  He does have a decent record against Richmond as well with a low score of 77 and a high of 131 since 2010.

I think Kade is going to be Kade. Get the ball and do his thing each week. At his age you have to be careful of him slowing down and being rested, but I think he is a safe enough pick. I've got Lloyd because I feel he is underpriced from the concussion game and he has a high floor.

I have Byrne, don't expect big scores but he is a nice rookie price player. Naughton is another from the Dogs that's apparently had a good pre-season. I think there will be a good number of defensive rookies available. I've actually gone Byrne at D3 in my side for this reason.

Neale had such an up and down season last year. Didn't realise he had no pre-season and he was in my side. He can rack it up though and is underpriced if everything goes right. Is Grundy out R1? If he isn't I'd grab him. I have Kreuz in my side but I think Grundy is safer. I know Cox is going to be in the team, but it will be less for ruck work and more as a stay at home forward.

Koop

So I've made a few changes to my side, I won't screenshot it again due to the issue of it being too small last time, so I'll just write it out.

Laird // Simpson // Lloyd // Bonner // Coffield // Murray (O'Connor // Doedee)

Mitchell // Merrett // Kelly // Treloar // Neale // Brayshaw // Dow // Holman (Kelly // Banfield // Finlayson)

Grundy // Gawn (Cameron)

Heeney // Billings // Wingard // D.Smith // Giles-Langdon // Fritsch (Venables // Ryan)

69.4k left.

Christo/Dunkley becomes Smith/Ryan, would love some thoughts on this change from those in the know.

Brayshaw becomes Bonner, he is likely to go further down to Byrne or Naughton to do Treloar -> Danger, but obviously depends on Danger's selection. Again would love some thoughts on that as well as the overall team. :)

Koop

So this ended up being my starting team

Laird // Simpson // Lloyd // Bonner // Murray // Finlayson (Doedee // Murphy)
Mitchell // Merrett // J.Kelly // Treloar // Neale // T.Kelly // Brayshaw // Holman (Dow // Banfield // Fogarty)
Martin // Gawn (Crossley (no idea how tf he got in there))
Heeney // Billings // Wingard // D.Smith // Christensen // Fritsch (Giles-Langdon // Waterman)

Scored 2251 in Rd 1. Ranked 512 to start off the year.

No real blips outside obviously Merrett. Every premium on every line went 92+ and Bonner went a lot better than expected. A few points lost on wrong on-field rookies, but nothing too extreme. Only minor annoyance is while all my mid promos went 100+ except Merrett, Titch was the only one to really explode. Gibbs is looking like a likely type if Merrett misses a week. Holding otherwise.

Happy with that start.

Peter

Excellent team and excellent start

Koop

scored 2084, ranked 2396 for the round. Dropped to 704 overall.

Wingard was disappointing, but I'm not going to budge on him yet. Rookies look fine, although I'm looking at Dow to Cerra next week.

Is Treloar playing injured?

Relatively happy though despite the hit, onto next week!
