Hey guys. First SuperCoach year since a very narrow finals miss in 2013 under the old Elxam system in my first ever SC year. Looking for some help but to also document the year’s progress & thought processes.

DEF: Docherty, Rance, MacDonald, Kolodjashnij, McGrath, Ryan (Stewart, Newman)

MID: Dangerfield, Pendlebury, Hannebery, Bontempelli, Fyfe, Swallow, Myers, Powell-Pepper (Petrevski-Seton, Freeman, Fisher)

RUC: Gawn, Sandilands (English)

FWD: Dahlhaus, Franklin, Deledio, Bowes, Balic, Black (Gallucci, Eddy)

Cash left: $500

Docherty & Rance my safe bets. Shaw may come in for Rance but not going to dick around with too many uncertainties.
TMac I think represents huge value after his second half of 2016, averaging 108 in the last 8 rounds & 100.6 after as far back as Round 10.
Kolo is the one mid-pricer Im highly considering. Should do better this year not playing 3rd tall for half of it. ::)
Rookies as always are purely speculative as always, but Id imagine at least 2 if not 3 of those will start Round 1 in the AFL.

As a South Australian I hate Danger as much as the next guy. He is purely a defensive pick to not be behind the pack.
Pendlebury obviously Mr. Consistent. Treloar also being thought about.
Hannebery & Bont are your standard premium mid starters. Comfortable both will be top 8 at seasons end. JPK high priority upgrade target.
Fyfe picks himself in any half decent team.
Barring a JLT injury Swallow is way too hard to pass on at that price.
See above for Rookies. SPP, SPS & Myers will hopefully all start Round 1.

Gawn picks himself in SuperCoach.
Realise punting on Sandi with very minimal bank could almost be considered suicide, especially with minimal pre-season. But will average quite well if he stays on the park. High risk high reward

My forwards still leave me uneasy. The forward options in general are quite lacking in the top end.
Dahl & Buddy are very safe, vanilla, top 6 options.
Deledio’s uninjured average (97.8) was the first sub 100 season from him since 2007. Should be fine even at a new club.

Would love some advice/feedback. Trying to stick to GnR as much as I can. :)

KK isn't worth it in my opinion so would downgrade him to whoever you like most out of Scharenberg, Keefe and Hampton.

Use the money to upgrade your other lines.

GoLions

Yeah don't really like KK either, but he definitely has the potential, so go with your gut there Kupa.

Risky going with Sandi in the ruck and no cover up forward as well, but if you wanna take the punt, then go for it :)

I reckon Docherty is overpriced, so would prefer Shaw to him, but that's just me. Docherty will still most likely be a top 3-5 defender, so he's not a bad pick by any means :P

Agree with the above KK to Keeffe gives you 210k
McGrath to cheap def rookie (fingers crossed) and Sandi could be upgraded to Goldy

Yeah

Sandi to Goldy
Rookie to Ryder

Either way gives you protection and a keeper.

Ringo

Not much more I can add here Koop - Go with gut though,

Unfortunately KK to Keeffe and McGrath to Hampton leaves me roughly 20k short. Could go cheaper & that's probably something I'll look at in the JLT if theres someone outside of Ryan/Newman/Stewart that grabs me.

Other possible scenarios with the money include -

Sandi -> Grundy
English -> Witts & Black -> Hrovat/CEY. However not sold on either yet.

Looks like something I'll have to ponder over & monitor a few blokes form over the JLT series. Thankyou to everyone so far for the help. Really appreciate it :)

D: Docherty - Shaw - Jones - Otten - Marchbank - Newman (Hampton - Stewart)
M: Dangerfield - Pendlebury - Fyfe - Kennedy - Beams - Treloar - O'Meara - Taranto (Powell-Pepper - Parfitt - Barrett)
R: Martin - Nankervis (Preuss)
F: Dahlhaus - Greene - Steele - Roughead - Houston - Turner (Butler - Eddy)

Trades left: 26

Cash Left: 45'700

First two rounds was just fixing rookies in regards to trade. Will probably hold this week seeing as I already have Newman, but JOM and Taranto (mainly Taranto) giving me the showers.

Currently ranked 27k after being 73k at the end of the 1st round, so climbing fast.

Climbing fast? More like burning early trades!  ;)

Haha couldnt miss out on the cash gen with Hibberd not likely to be recalled & Smith injured ;)

Mongoose528

Your team looks good, I would hold this week, seeing as you have used 4 trades.

So I took the advice and held. Rubbish week but I think it was for everyone bar a select few.

Obviously have Roughy issues this week with the Hawks being carted. Not as concerned about Zak Jones at the moment because I'm confident they (Sydney) can turn it around, and with their inclusions this week Jones should shift back to the midfield.

Have a few options

Roughead to Balic
Turner to Yeo/Macrae

Roughead to Matera/ANB
Turner to Balic

Roughead to Balic
JOM to Murphy/Rockliff/Anyone I could think of except Sloane.

Any ideas?

Got some issues this week after an absolute tripe showing across the board. Thinking Parfitt down to Parsons is an obvious move, but the next one not so much.

Stewart, Taranto and SPP put in decent enough scores to avoid the chop and should continue to moo.

Eddy is useful for loophole as I'm hopeful Barrett gets a recall soon.

Major red mark is Greene likely to be rubbed out for multiple. I think I'm going to have to hold regardless of the length. Parsons/Taranto/SPP can cover for the meantime.

I'm looking at potentially upgrading Hampton this week, have enough in the kitty to afford any of Laird, Adams, Roberton, etc. basically anyone. Looking at Robbo because he is so unique, but Laird and Adams are both bonafide superstars and will continue to score. So kinda a bit stuck on that front.

Been really slack, but my rank has been nothing to write home about this year.

Round 12 trades

Otten -> Williams
Myers -> Cousins
Taranto -> Wingard

Leaves team at

D: Docherty - Williams - Hibberd - Shaw - Newman - Jones (Stewart - Scharenberg)
M: Rockliff - Dangerfield - Pendlebury - J.Kennedy - Treloar - Fyfe - Wines - Scooter (Powell-Pepper - Cousins - Bolton)
R: Martin - Mumford (Preuss)
F: Dahlhaus - Heeney - Greene - Nankervis - Steele - Wingard  (Greenwood - Parsons)

Rank: 22k

No trades planned for Round 13 (will have 20 available) and probably PP down, Stewart up the week after, with 7 injury/luxury trades to tide me over for the year. Any idea who to bring in as a defensive upgrade?

Defensive upgrade after round 13? Adams has to be the first priority, only gone under 100 once but you may not be able to afford him so Laird is the next obvious one.
