Profile:

After injuring his ACL in 2014, Rich started off 2015 really really well, and was looking like he was back to his best. He played a lot more across half back, where he can use that damaging left boot of his. He did struggle with consistency throughout the year though, with the main reason being his inability to handle a tag. Unfortunately it is still something he needs to work on, however with the addition of Beams last year, and Hanley back at full fitness, it should see some of that pressure taken away from him. At the age of 25, he is entering his prime, and should hopefully be able to cope a lot better and perform to the standards that were expected of him after his very first year at the club.

Pros:

Game style suited for SC

Shouldn't be tagged as much with Hanley and Beams both fit and playing

Excluding when he did his ACL, has only one year averaging under 80 (his 2nd season)

Cons:

Can't handle a tag

Low scores are really low

Prediction:

I'll just say this short and sharp, until he can handle a tag, Rich won't reach that premium status in SC. He has loads of potential, and that left foot is sooooo good for SC, but he just can't score when someone is running with him. I still see him as probably 2nd in line to get the tag at the Lions, which would likely mean a number of games where he'll score around the 50 mark. There is a possibility that he does escape it more often than not, especially with some teams tagging Rockliff on occasion, and this is the only reason really that I can see Rich averaging around the 90 mark, which is what you'd want if you were picking him. Unfortunately, I don't see him improving his average that much in 2016, might be able to push towards 85 at best.

Thanks for this GL! Rich remains an interesting one, I suppose a fit Rocky & Beams will push him down the tag pecking order. Will have to monitor his treatment from the opposition.

Personally, I would have Rich above Rocky in the tag pecking order. Hanley, Rich, Beams, Rocky/Zorko is how I would prioritize them.

Gigantor

Unless he looks spectacular during nab I can't seeing him being a good pick.

In the 400-450k bracket I would put him behind Yeo, Smith, Hurn and maybe even Hibberd

My concern with Rich is that, although his scores are reasonable, he appears to have lost pace and kicking power and accuracy following his ACL. The 60 to 70 metre kicks were virtually non existent last season.
He also had ankle problems last year which also did not assist his coming back.  Early injuries to Rocky also forced Rich into midfield.  With a fully fit Lions midfield can see Rich returning to HB where he scored 126,100 & 93 before moving to mids. Can he reach those heights again is the question.
Rich also has to learn how to break a tag.  There were some signs last season but not consistent enough.
Rich is not a mid fielder as he can not keep up the intensity required for a full for quarters,
Rich may also be effected by contract negotiations as he is off contract at end of season and is non committal about his intentions.
My suggestion is to watch how he performs in NAB cup attitude wise as well and then make your decision.

Should've listened to you GL :-[
I actually almost started him myself, but found the cash for Boyd just before the R1 lockout. Very happy I made that move!

Yeah that's fair enough man. I'm spewing though because Rich was my only massive regret this year

If Jarryd Lyons was named Round 1 (which he wasn't), I would've gone De Goey -> him (he's averaging like 87) and then would've found cash for Shiel -> Jelwood and Rich -> Simmo to start the year.

I would've been top 100 I reckon if that had of happened
