SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

2013 National Draft

Pick 1 (Selection 1 Overall) - Jack Martin

Las Vegas Sinner selected highly touted Western Australian Jack Martin with the first selection in the 2013 National draft.

Martin's name shot to prominence after an outstanding Under 18 carnival in 2012. There was always going to be plenty of interest in Martin, and the Sinners had no hesitation in trumping all other clubs to get their hands on him.

Martin is 184cm, and oozes class. He possesses a line-breaking run and damaging skills. He spent the 2012 season playing in a local competition in Geraldton. Jack is a truly outstanding talent and the Sinners are excited to add him to a team brimming with youth.

Pick 2 (Selection 32 Overall) - Zak Jones

Jones is best when the ball is up for grabs. He has no fear, will charge at a contest head-on, and make the ball his. He's a good, strong build, and is a see-ball, get-ball type of player. He's confident overhead and brave in the air, and can really shut down opponents. In Vic Country's last game of the championships he moved onto Vic Metro star Jack Billings at half-time, after Billings had dominated the start of the game. Jones gave him no space thereafter. By the end of the season Jones showed he could be a midfielder, too. In the Stingrays' preliminary final win, he gathered 10 clearances from 27 disposals in a dominant display.

Pick 3 (Selection 33 Overall) - Michael Apeness

Michael is a key forward/ruckmen who had a breakout year after coming back to AFL from two years away with the Melbourne Rebels rugby union junior squad. He played mainly at full-forward with Eastern Rangers, but also had stints as a key defender and ruckman. For Eastern, he took 46 contested marks and kicked 25.16 goals for the season. He played more as a ruckman for Vic Metro where he averaged 19 hitouts a game (5.2 to advantage) highlighting his smarts with his tap-work. He also averaged 2 clearances a game, highlighting his second efforts and ability to follow up. Michael is a powerful player who possesses good natural aggression. He's a terrific contested mark, and if he isn't able to mark it he always brings the ball to ground to allow the smalls into the game. The week after Michael played in a premiership for the Eastern Rangers, he went to the draft combine and ran a 10.55 3km time trial, highlighting his endurance. Michael has huge upside given the lack of footy he's played over the past few years.

Pick 4 (Selection 64 Overall) - Daniel Robinson

A standout for NSW/ACT at the 2012 NAB AFL Under-18 Championships. As a NSW scholarship holder, Robinson has been shows promising signs as an insider midfielder.
The former NSW Scholarship holder

2013 Youth Draft

Selection 1 (Overall Pick 10) - Jonathan O'Rourke

Medium midfielder who is a prolific ball winner and smart user of the ball. Runs all day and makes good decisions with the football in heavy traffic. Has good game sense and an excellent mix of speed and endurance. Classy type who averaged 18.5 disposals at 77% efficiency for Vic Metro in the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships and was rewarded with All Australian honours. AIS-AFL Academy Graduate.

Selection 2 (Overall Pick 23) - Lachlan Plowman

Tall defender with terrific ability to win the contested ball in the air and at ground level. Poised with the ball in his hands and makes smart decisions. Was in great form early in the year with the Australian U18 team and Calder before injury ruled him out of the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships. Made a strong return in the latter stages of the season with Cannons and was among their best against Oakleigh with 17 disposals and six marks. AIS-AFL Academy Graduate.

Selection 3 (Overall Pick 42) - Tim Broomhead

A medium midfielder with excellent speed, vision and composure with the ball. Broomhead averaged 15.2 disposals and used the ball at 77 per cent efficiency during the NAB AFL Under 18 Championships where he played an important role for South Australia in its midfield rotations.
He also stepped up to senior level when playing for the Port Adelaide Magpies in the SANFL, playing 10 matches.
It is anticipated that Broomhead will play both on the ball and in attack where his foot skills and pace are sure to make him an asset.

Selection 4 (Overall Pick 55) - Max Duffy

Max is a super talent and possesses genuine x-factor. He reads the game well, has clean hands and is a very good kick of the footy.
Exciting medium forward with very good skills on either side of his body that can kick goals quickly. His speed-endurance is a real feature of his game allowing him to repeatedly get to a number of contests as well as presenting on the lead. Displays excellent goal sense as is evident in his tally of 33 goals at senior level this year. Kicked multiple goals in 10 out of his 15 games for East Fremantle in 2012.

Getting ready for 2015 premiership glory!!

Vegas would like to read a prepared statement regarding Jordan Degoey

"The club is disappointed we drafted such a stupid, stupid young boy and will do our best to smack some discipline into his head before he returns from the club imposed 3 match ban"

On other matters - free frisbees and trampolines for everyone :)
