How Far Away is too Far?

Currently ranked low 1,100's and just under 500 points away from #1 - was playing solely for league victory but is it worth burning a few extra trades to chase a high finish?

Current Team (after this week's trades):

DEF: Shaw, Bartel, Adams, Tippa, M.Brown, DBJ (Ruggles, Tucker)

MID: Danger, DanHan, Jelwood, Parker, Pendles, Ablett, Libba, Wines (Keayes, Smith, Dunkley)

RUC: Gawn, NicNat (Grimley)

FWD: Dahl, Hall, Zerrett, Wells, Barlow, Kerridge (BenKen, Menadue)

Trades left: 18

Strong team, especially in the middle. probably need to strengthen defence at this stage. Adams likely to miss 1-2 weeks and you have Tucker on the periphery. Perhaps Menadue to Petracca and Tippa to McVeigh if you have the funds.

I am in a cash league and make that my priority.
If your cash league is for decent money I would concentrate on that, only because I would think 500 may be a bit far off (but I am far from an expert)

Plus I suppose it's you vs. a handful of others in your league.
In overall its you vs. 1500+

You have too issues as I see it with 18 trades you may run out and others will pass you if you trade aggressively for overall.

If cash league has a sizeable prize by going for overall you may jepordize you chance in cash league.  So I would concentrate on the cash league by getting best team you can with starting to conserve trades and let the overall take care of itself.
