Well after this article...

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-02-11/young-sun-star-omeara-is-in-no-hurry-to-return

Its fair to say that there is a slim chance of seeing O'Meara for Round 1.

So, yet another tweak...stupid of me to think I'd be close to a team for NAB Challenge. :P

DEF: H. Shaw, K. Kolodjashnij, J. Bartel, B. Smith, A. Francis, M. Brown (R. Bonner, N. Broad)

MID: S. Pendlebury, G. Ablett, T. Rockliff, O. Wines, T. Liberatore, B. Crouch, J. Hopper, J. Polkinghorne (L. Sumner, S. Menegola, M. Hibberd)

RUC: N. Naitanui, M. Lobbe (S. Grimley)

FWD: D. Martin, L. Dahlhaus, D. Zorko, T. Greene, L. Duggan, S. Kerridge (C. Petracca, S. Yarran)

Some performances in the first AFL intra-club hitouts have changed the lineup...yet again.

Liking the structure of the team. With NAB Challenge starting this weekend, its getting exciting! Footy's almost back!!

DEF: H. Shaw, K. Kolodjashnij, J. Bartel, B. Smith, J. Aish, M. Brown (S. Collins, N. Broad)

MID: N. Fyfe, P. Dangerfield, G. Ablett, T. Rockliff, T. Liberatore, B. Crouch, J. Hopper, J. Gresham (L. Sumner, J. Polkinghorne, M. Hibberd)

RUC: N. Naitanui, M. Lobbe (S. Grimley)

FWD: D. Martin, L. Dahlhaus, T. Greene, D. Wells, L. Duggan, S. Kerridge (C. Petracca, S. Yarran)

CASH: $32,600

Thoughts?

MC

Petracca looking unlikely for rd1, still might be worth holding though. I'm not a massive fan of Aish just yet, hasn't done anything to make me think he's worth selecting in regular SC. Fyfe is another i'm wary of, will need to see him smashing packs and cruising through the mids during the NAB if I were to pick him with confidence.

Both are easily solutions if their not fit.

Fyfe -> Pendlebury
Petracca -> Rookie

As for Aish, he's a curious one. I've had him in and out my side since SC opened, tough one but he's showing signs he's in for a breakout year.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-02-11/new-magpie-james-aish-determined-to-shake-off-the-secondyear-blues

QuoteAish has been shadowing Magpies' skipper Scott Pendlebury during the pre-season as he prepares to show his wares.

He has also continued to pick the brains of Gary Ablett after the two struck up a relationship when Aish trained with the Suns during his AIS/AFL Academy year.

Hopefully his hard work translates into a solid average.

NAB Challenge over, and the real deal is less than a week away!!! Arrggghh!

A month ago, this is what my team looked like.

There's been a lot of changes, but the structure still generally remains the same.

DEF: Heath Shaw, Rory Laird, Tom Sheridan, Jesse Lonergan, Matt Dea, Mitch Brown (Nathan Broad, Michael Hartley)

Still sticking with Shaw. Will be the #1 defender again, and yes he's expensive, but too hard to leave out. Rory Laird has torn it up in the NAB Challenge, and comes in for KK. Few alarm bells with Bartel and Smith, so they've made way for two breakout players. Tom Sheridan and Jesse Lonergan. Both highly touted, and performed well the past few weeks. With no sign of Swallow, Prestia, O'Meara in GC side, Lonergan will have great opportunity to run through the mid and off half-back. Too hard to pass up. Same goes for Sheridan. Dea has been a standout for Essendon and will be hard pressed not to line up Round 1, though who knows what Essendon will go with Round 1. Brown, Broad and Hartley have always been in might sight, and are in unless Rd 1 lineups say otherwise.

MID: Nat Fyfe, Patrick Dangerfield, Gary Ablett, Tom Rockliff, Matt Crouch, Brad Crouch, Tom Liberatore, Callum Mills (George Hewett, Dean Gore, Ryan Davis)

Fyfe, Danger, Ablett, Rockliff, B Crouch and Libba have been locks since day one. Bit some shuffling of funds and performances has seen the introduction of Mills, and M Crouch. Very potent midfield, love it. Some injury risks and concerns, but too hard to say no to a lineup like that. Any danger having both Crouches? (No pun intended) Probably not. Matt has been tearing it up, and Brad, while sat out his last NAB Challenge match due to an off-field indiscretion, still got 40 touches. Both worth having at their price. Hewett, Gore and Davis fill the rookie spots for now due to their performances, but we'll wait and see what the lineups say.

RUC: Todd Goldstein, Matt Gawn (Sam Grimley)

This will be the first year I've gone with the set and forget approach. But after some disappointments in the past, its time to just set and forget. Goldstein is a superstar, and while he is the most expensive in the game, he's averaged over 120 in his past 36 matches, with just 5 scores below 100. Consistency is gold in this game. After Dougal Howard destroyed Lobbe in the ruck in Port's pre-season intra-club match, it was over for Lobbe. Shuffled some money around and brought Gawn in. Grimley still in as well, though Mason Cox is still in the frame.

FWD: Michael Barlow, Aaron Hall, Toby Greene, Daniel Wells, Ben Kennedy, Sam Kerridge (Christian Petracca, Marcus Adams)

Bit of an odd forward line now. No Dahlhaus, Martin, Montagna, or Deledio. While they are all guns, there's some cheapies that I reckon will match or outperform them. Barlow is definitely one of them. Aaron Hall, averaged 117 in the last 6 games of the 2015 season, and averaged 112 in the NAB Challenge. Impressive...but. How many of those games featured O'Meara, Swallow, Prestia or Ablett? Hall is in for an early cash cow, because I fear that once GC's mid is in full strength, Hall's average will crash. Greene has been talked up all pre-season and is still in. But just. His efficiency and clanger count is an issue, and will be one to watch early. Wells, Kerridge and Petracca all still remain in, but after some disappointing performances in the NAB Challenge, Duggan has made way for Ben Kennedy. Lastly, Marcus Adams has done well for the Dogs in the pre-season, and I hope he makes it round 1, as he holds an important DPP link with Mitch Brown in defence.

Well that's my side going into the all important Round 1 lineups! Thoughts anyone??

Any help would be greatly appreciated, happy Supercoaching to all!  ;D ;D

Sven

People's thoughts on the new side?

Too many mid-priced risks?
Lonergan, Sheridan, Libba, Greene over hyped?
Spending too much on premiums?
Any players likely to miss Rd 1? Hewett? Dea? Gore?

Please, any help and thoughts are greatly appreciated. Will be sure to return the favours, just link your team in your reply. :)

Team is solid. In my opinion you need to get rid of shaw lonergan and Sheridan for houli and rich/kk + rookie. Use spare cash to upgrade m crouch to a premo. Rookies look a little shaky. Keep your eye out for selections. I like hall and greene but not many do

Think both Sheridan and Lonergan a rsik together would prefer only one. Drop 1 down to a rookie or a 250/300k midpricer who si a chance to gain value Harood for example.

Just watch rookies for naming for Rd 1. May need a little more than $33k to adjust if all not named so may need some tinkering. One of the Crouchs down may also be necessary.  Your team though and go with gut.

Should have mentioned that I only have $8,800 left.

Shaw is a lock for me, and I'm surprised so many are leaving him out of their side. He will be the #1 ranked defender again, too good to refuse.

Shaw + Lonergan + Sheridan + M Crouch = 110 + 90 + 80 + 95 = 375. Houli + Rich + Bryne + Priddis = 95 + 90 + 60 + 115 = 360. Depending on how you value players, I reckon I'll still stick with Shaw and Co.

Rookies are changing by the day, just depends who gets named really. Only locks are Petracca and M Hartley at the moment.

Thanks for the feedback though.

Yeah, having both has played on my mind. I did think of dropping Lonergan + M Crouch + Greene for Rich + Menadue + Dahlhaus, but I think there's more value in the current 3. Definitely a risk....still not 100%, but I'm seriously considering taking the risk.

As for the rookies, thanks for the tip about money. As mentioned above, I've only got $8k left...perhaps the extra money comes from Ben Kennedy --> Connor Menadue?

Near perfect team - 18 of my starting 22. For all the same reasons
