I'm not worried about top 6 defenders this year. Got Shaw and a bunch of others who can go 100+... Oxley, Ibbo, Pittard and Newnes could all be in my team by seasons end thanks to owning Lids, Bartel, Sloane and Rocky. I'll be getting in Houli, Hodge or TMac soon and be happy enough with my lot.

What about Houli vs Picken?

Besides his first 3 games of the year, Picken has gone super well and consistently high

Looking now like my defenders will be:

Shaw, Hodge, Yeo, Newnes, Smith, Ibbotson.

Trading Saad to Hodge this week and Lumumba to Smith next week. Then once Ox has stopped making cash later on in the season, luxury trade to Yeo.

Beams to complete my midfield and Goddard to complete my forward line will be priorities.

Besides his first 3 games of the year, Picken has gone super well and consistently high

Listed as test to come back this week but considering him for my final DEF upgrade. I know his role has changed, but not sure if his 100+ scoring is sustainable with Macrae, Dahlhaus, Bont and Wallis in the side or just a hot streak.
Having him would give me 4 dogs players with Murphy, Dahl and Bont and unsure if I want all my eggs to be in that basket

Houli is by no means a 'safe' pick. He has only averaged over 90 once before (2013) and can be a poor user of the ball at times.

Fair comments re Houli

Picken vs Houli is the decision I need to make

If I get rid of McKenzie, I get Houli. If I get rid of Brown, then I can afford Picken or Hodge (but wont be getting Hodge)

Houli and Brown D7/PearceD8 vs Picken and McKenzie D7/8 with Pearce?

There's every chance I would be downgrading Brown the week after or so for cash anyway, so maybe I should just trade him now and get the cash for Picken?

As stupid as it sounds, I have Missy in there (from the start) and have been pretty happy so far. No doubt he will trip over a blade of grass and break something very soon though  ???

I just traded him in last week for his 103. Has a good draw coming up and has been surprisingly consistent. Could end up being very close to top 6 but people don't like him, understandably, because of being burnt in the past.
