New American Fan - whats up what is happening

Hello all - I hope this is a good message board with a great community that can help me with this slightly distressing question I'lll ask in a few sentences or paragraphs I think. So me and a few bros are port adelaide fans cuz last year one night we got a little amped to stay up for a semifinals game (Hawthorn vs Port Adelaide) and we really wanted to flowerin see what this AFL sport was all about. We bet on this Port Adelaide team that lost but it was so fun to watch them as underdogs and see this team you know kind of scrap and fight for our hard earned money laid down on the line and for them to come so close its hard not to root against that team going forward ya know...A few observations can y'all please comment or answer?

1. Hoolllyy shower I gotta say this sport is flowerin dope. I'm a huge sports fan of everything that exists in America and the western world but this shower is cooler cuz it makes people use both hand eye and foot eye coordination. That's chill. It's kinda hard to truly express in words but this is aweessommee

2. question 2.. so can anyone please tell me why port adelaide is 0-2 right now? I know their schedule is brutal but after watching them at the end of the playoffs last year they seemed like a team with the mental fortitude to crush whatever came against the... Was that all a mirage or is this team legit? I hope its the latter cuz going to a home game for them looks fun as shower

I think there's some autocorrect filters that I didn't know were gonna show up 'flowerin' means 'flowerin' lol and 'showerin' should mean shower

Haha welcome man. Yes the swear filter is here for a reason, family friendly forum, don't try to go around it. :) And AFL is the greatest thing to have hit this planet.

Yeah the first game was awesome, probably deserved to win but so did the opposition. Our second match was a bit of a let down but expect them to bounce back, we played two very difficult teams to start with (And the net three are not much easier)

The Port Adelaide best 22 is very very good, unfortunately our depth is a bit of an issue. And for the first two matches this season we've been without our best ruckman Matthew Lobbe. (Just incase you don't know, the ruckman is the really tall guy that goes around trying to tap the ball to his teammates when the umpire/referee throws the ball in the air) So the first game Paddy Ryder had to ruck alone against the toughest opponent in the game, and he had no pre-season match practice. In the second game he had help from a guy that hadn't played an AFL match for nearly 700 days. So when Lobba comes back, should be a better Port Adelaide.

The Port team is legit, just hope they don't get worried by these few early losses. Long season still :)

Welcome mate, great to have another Power fan onboard :). Yeah, not quite the start to the season we wanted, but we'll come good. Footy is a great game ( touch of bias haha ), but for me, it's the best code to watch. It's fast, hard, and theres so much pressure these days on the ball carrier. Hello BC welcome to FanFooty mate.
You won't get much of an argument from us, we all to a man/woman think it's the greatest game on earth. It has it all our game but thats a fairly bias opinion as we've grown up loving it playing it watching it. It's good to hear another nationality enjoying our game so much, hope you and your mates continue to enjoy it. All the best you all, cheers. ;)

Port will come good, i feel their missing Lobbe their ruckman a bit and their early run of games are with tough opponents but i believe they'll come good. Seems alot of homework by opposition has gone into combating their running game and some of the better teams appear to have shed some kilos (Body weight) and upped their fitness to better compete with their game style. A few of their players started the season a little underdone with no match practice which hasn't helped their cause any but will be all the better with a couple of games under their belt now.

PS: Go Crows haha. Sorry had to say it.

Its a great game and easy to get passionate about.

Not too sure if part 1 was a question but Port lost a close game to Freo before running in to a red hot Swans outfit.

Stick with Port and don't worry about the crows.
