QuoteThe Suns' skipper has continued his return to full contact training and is eyeing off a possible playing return on March 20 in the club's pre-season clash with the Brisbane Lions.

Eade says he's got no doubts Ablett will be 100 per cent fit in time to take on the Demons by round one.

"I couldn't be more pleased with the way he's trained and everybody's noted who knows him here that it's the best pre-season he's had," Eade said.

"He's getting more confidence with his shoulder. He's got the all-clear and he's starting some resistance and competitive work now. He'll be right."

That's a whole lot of $750k there.

What are people expecting him to average? 140? 135? 125?

I would say 130+ is probably about right for Gaz. He is the only player I have seen with a B/E of 170 and hit it. He was averaging 142 heading into the Pies game that he injured the shoulder. He was heading for a pretty close to one of his worst scores of the year with the Caff tag so if he scored another 30 or so points through the last quarter and a half he would have had a 138 average. Assuming he is rusty I would think something close to 2011 is comparable which is around a 130 which is still probably going to make him the number 1 player for the season.

128 is a pretty exact number  ???

 :)

It's a magnificent yet terrifying thought at the same time for a supporter of another club, but I reckon this year he will be better still.

128 and he's a lock?

GAJ 256, Pendles 125 vs Pendles 250, Jobe 110 + 160K

381 vs 360 + $

10 points = $53,750

160,000/5375 = 29.76 points

381 vs 389.76

When he scores 140+ every few weeks and costs you a match that's when it hurts

It's all good to use your analysis in value for money, but worst case scenario is that he drops to what, 650k? Good Luck trying to bring him in. You'll need to use 2 trades and waste two fully milked cows to get him, while people who start him wont

Don't care if he drops 100k, he is a keeper, and the risk of not starting him combined with the difficulty of being able to get him later isn't worth the 160k you save now if getting Watson

Not everyone uses the guns and rookies strategy, I certainly don't. Starting a couple of guys like Steven and Montagna, culling one bench cow and using that cash to upgrade both (one to GAJ) isn't that difficult.

RaisyDaisy

How you use that 160k, or extra cash saved is going to be important in your argument for not starting him

I'm yet to see a team without Ablett that looks good enough vs teams with him. I guess you could have a team without him and several mid pricers like you say, making it easier to get him, but that's a completely different discussion - having several mid pricers

I would just hate to be facing an opponent who has the VC or C on Gaz, and I don't have him at all, sweating that match and then watching him pump out a massive score and costing me the match

I agree RD who cares if Gaz or Rocky drop a $100k early you get these players for there ability to post very large scores and using them as captain leads to big overall SC scores which leads to winning and good ranking but some don't seem to understand that  ;)
