What is everyone's thoughts on Hurn this year? personally, i've had him locked since day dot, however with the retirement of Glass & now the injury to Mackenzie, does anyone think his role will change? considering his decent size & the lack of key position defenders at WC, could he have more of a lockdown role? potentially taking the opposition's second or third tall? Would love some thoughts.

I don't think Simpson will ever waste Hurn as a lock down player he is too damaging. The questions is how much attention will he get, he has shown he is tagable in the past.

I had him locked since December, but am now having second thoughts

I felt that his price, coupled with his potential and new captaincy made him an easy pick, and if he avoided injury it would be gold but with Glass, Emac and Waters all gone now I'm just not sure

He is not going to take a tall forward. Brown, McGovern and even Schofield will do that, so that doesn't concern me. I'm just curious if he will need to be a bit more accountable now and wont have as much freedom as he usually does

Very annoying that he didn't play on the weekend too, making it harder to gauge because I didn't really take much out of NAB 1, except that he didn't even crack 50 points from close to 80% TOG  :-\

I'm really struggling with my D3 now that the ASADA stuff is making it hard to pick Hibberd.
Hurn was one of the few that I was considering but I'm just not confident to start him. Upgrade target if he looks good

Role won't change, will continue to do what he always does.

the injury to Mackenzie and retirement of Waters have me wondering if Yeo is still likely to get the midfield position he has been promised...

I agree it wont, but not having the quality of those 3 around him anymore surely has to make him more accountable, and from an opposition perspective he is easily the defender opposition will look to negate now

I just think all things considering, the benefit of actually starting him isn't as good as what it was a few months ago

Unlikely that his target opponent will now change because those boys are out. A weaker defence may mean they get beaten more and he gets less rebound footy, but I doubt he will be required to be directly more accountable. And he is always the #1 target from oppo teams.

Can't see him being impacted due to structure or role change, only by the strength of the WCE defenders/side.
