My team, after a few tweeks and changes already, this is where i am at. Though there will be changes with the cheaper players come round 1, depending on who gets picked.

I welcome your feedback..

Backs: Hibbard, B Smith, Newnes, waters, geary, whitecross (z Jones, T, Clurey)

Mids: Rockliff, Ablett, JP Kennedy, S Selwood, Caddy, Rich, NVB, P Crips (T Dumont, A Vandenberg)

Rucks: Bellchambers, Kreuzer (T Nankervis, M King)

Forwards: Goddard, Grey, Swan, T Mitchell, E Templeton, T Boyd (A Saad, M Cox)

Thanks

Seems like people are on board with Newnes, I'm not against it but you gotta be aware it was his breakout season, meaning you are hoping he is going to continue to improve, but I'm going to put my money on that he is not. So sometimes you're better of with someone who has proven to be a defender over the seasons, so blokes like Walker, Birchall, Enright, Duffield and Shaw are all proven players around the same price. Not sure about Geary, for a bloke that is 330k and has never averaged above 75 once in his 7 years means your better of looking elswhere.

Not much wrong with the midfield, though Scotty's preseason has been pretty interrupted so he could be a better upgrade target because I can see him starting the season slowly

Risky ruck line, and you have no players on your bench that are likely able to back them up. You should at least bring in Jono Griffin who is cheap and more of a chance to play this season then Nankervis and King.

Forward line is strong, I like the risk of Boyd, he is someone that is rookie priced and should play every game.

Lastly looking over your entire bench you picked blokes that are 120k and are unlikely to play round 1 and little to no games this season. Sometimes your better of spending that little bit extra on your bench on blokes who will play round 1 so that you can generate cash for your upgrades.

Hope this helps, good luck for the year

thanks for the feedback. some of my first efforts of the team had better bench cover, then i decided to put rocky and ablett into the team, and the money had to come from somewhere. im sure there will be more changes as the nab challenge happens.

I'm not 100% sure Smith and Newnes can maintain or improve on their average from last year. I think Henderson has better JS then Whitecross, although I am not an adelaide supporter so I could be wrong.
Scooter has had a very poor preseason, I think he will be a mid season downgrade target if anything. Caddy is interesting, he is a breakout contender for sure.
Is Templeton fit? I'd try and get Hogan and/or Clark in there too mate.

thanks for the feedback

My research shows both smith and newnes are both looking at getting more midfield time, so hopefully a 5-10pt increase, which would be great.

Not sure about whitecross yet. If he gets in the team rnd 1, he will be fine, just not sure on his JS yet.

Caddy should increase, with less vests, but you never know. Again no injuries should be fantastic. Kelly, bartel getting on so they should spend less time in the midfield. More for caddy selwood and duncan.

Templeton is back training fully, has been for nearly the whole preseason. Se he should be playing and getting good game time. His numbers were ok for a first year player last year. Hopefully his arm is ok.

A couple of changes otherwise.

I welcome your feedback..

Ok who has the most upside from there current price:

Caddy 392k av 69
L, Neale 466k av 82
R, Griffin 485k av 85

Who is more likely to add 20 points to their average. Im inclined to think caddy, but it could be none or all of them.

trying to fit some of them in my current team

popedelio

I haven't really followed Caddy so I'm not sure.

With the other 2 I'm more inclined to say Griffen. He is guy who has proven to be a consistent 95+ point player, and has played a 105 avg season. Last year was poor because of a back injury which derailed his year, though I have no idea how he is tracking this pre season. I would only go Neale if you think he can be a number 1 midfielder for Freo, but unfortunately he is still behind Fyfe, Mundy and Barlow. Griffen is most likely to have the better numbers

Good thread LF, cheers

Thanks for the info. It was a good read. The midpricers are always going to be contentious, as are the players coming back from injury

Found an interesting article. Its about supercoach i know. But the guy who won has some rules he followed.

Please give feedback

Whitex and templeton will probable change as will the rookies depending on who's playing round 1. My strategy for mids and forwards is premos and rookies and returning guns. My back and rucks are different. Mid pricers who should all step up and go solidly to enable the right downgrades to more cash cows through the season and then upgrade to premos. Especially in the backs...

The big question. How many injuries between now and round 1. Especially after 2 big injuries today...

Money

Good backs, maybe need a srtonger D1 though, Smith should average 85-90 but Simpson, Hibbo, Malceski, Hodge should all go 95+ and I think you need at least one of them! The rest are a solid but Waters had a another setback to maybe Waters downgrade Ibbo/Lumumba upgrade? It's still a worthy defence though
Great mids! I love the POD's in JPK and Sidebottom! Griffen at M5 and NVB at M6 really back up those uber premos well!
Same on field rucks as me (as probably lots of others after today..) so we may be saying pretty standard t othat as well!
Solid forwards, great top 3 and Titch at 4 is a good selection! LIke the templeton pick, had him last year before he broke his am and showed some talent, think he should walk back into the Saints line-up IMO, I wouldnt have Boyd on-field, will cop number 1 defender and only played a handful of games, a more agile and experience Hogan or Salem or Clarke will be better options!

In my original team i had hibbo, but saved some money somewhere by moving him out. Though i do get your point, having a premo in there would be better than 4 potential 80 to 85 av players. Especially with waters injured/ potentially retiring.

Yeah jpk and sidebottom are my unique players. As a lot of other teams will have the same decent backs mids rucks and forwards. The 3 top forwards wont be the top 3 av forwards for the year. Id love it if they were all top 6 though.

Templeton has a lot of potential. And did show a bit before his injury last year. Has been training well so far this year too. That said he might make way for a rookie depending on nab and round 1 teams. Boyd was the same. He will play 20 games. But get number 1 defender, and as you say he probably isnt up to beating everyone just yet. Another rookie watch spot. Or maybe someone like k harper (nth) who has shown he can play but not in big chunks of the season. Priced so cheap.

I worry about hogan and clarke. Coming back from injuries. Though they wont be getting the number 1 defender which will help.

Thanks for the feedback.
