Here is my draft side pre NAB cup.

Have tried to base my on field rookie selections on players I believe are in the best 25 of their respective clubs. Most rookies at this stage are place sitters only until NAB cup and round 1 team selection however have picked rookies at the higher price range to enable room for movement post NAB cup etc.

Appreciate your thoughts.

DEF: I like all the picks except for Henderson. Who knows what kind of role he will play at Adelaide this year especially under a new coach. I'm not convinced he will be a keeper. I would Downgrade him to a rookie. I agree that Newnes is in for a breakout year.

MID: Ablett and Pendles are locks. JPK is a good pick and Prestia has the potential to go large and push up to a 115 average imo. I'm not sure how Griffen will go in his first year at the Giants but he is so damn cheap so worth a look. Just keep in mind that Ablett, Pendles, JPK and Prestia all share the round 12 bye.

RUC: Not a bad setup and will be very successful if Kreuzer plays sole ruck and if he remains injury free. Two very big if's. Nic Nat is injury prone too so this ruck setup is risky especially with no ruck coverage in your fwds.

FWD: I like all your picks here and I agree that Mitchell could certainly be in for a breakout year and easily average 95+ if he gets regular games and plays mainly in the midfield. I think you need a RUC/FWD link though so I would try to bring in Bellchambers who averages 96.5 over the last 3 years when he has played without Ryder.

So if I was you I would downgrade Henderson to a rookie and upgrade Laverde to Bellchambers. Have a think about downgrading Colquhoun to a cheap rookie and then upgrading Prestia/Griffen too.

Hard to fault your mids and fwds mate, love the Prestia POD. On your backs I would be careful with Henderson. With BSmith and Jaensch taking over the rebounding defender roles last year, Hendo's scoring may be impacted. And the only other concern is the rucks with no cover. Need to really look at either something solid on the bench or a dpp ruck in the fwds.
