... and I have $48K left over

BigMac_93

Strong defence, I like the selections here.
No Ablett? I would consider bringing him in, you will regret it if he averages 130-140 and you mised the boat. Jack could be a good POD I am considering him myself.
Rucks are a bit risky IMO but it could pay off.
Forwards line looks strong.

That midfield is not going to cut it I'm afraid.

2 KPP's in the forwards are a massive risk.

Too much cash in the defence. Weak rucks.

As a starting point Bontempelli needs to become Ablett. A defensive downgrade should be done to do this.

Still then a lot of holes but looks a lot better.

Ablett ... yeah I know.
(If only I had $100,000 more)

As harsh as it may sound the other option is to press delete on your team you have and start again.
Still have plenty of time to get your team in a decent spot before lockout.
Have a look at some of the other teams here in the RMSC section to have a look at other structures.

Not a bad option really.  I might try this one for a bit longer.
Thanks for the feedback.

Agree look around... Roughead may be a pod, but he's a key a forward. Rule no.1 in fwd/def selection: no KPP.
Bargain buys in defence need to utilise them.
Need 3/4 top 10 mids I see 2. Maybe 3 depending on PD.
Rucks really not appealing.

I would think of trying  a team with the must haves....

Def: Waters, Shaw, Goddard.h
Mid: Gaz, Pendles, NVB, Heeney, Boekhorst, freeman
RUC: Nicnat
Fwd: Goddard, Swan, hogan, Daniel

Build around that

No way are many of them even "must haves". Could argue cases against half of them.

But not bad players to start with.

As good as Roughead is, there's just no way he'll crack 100, so won't be worth it as a POD. So many guaranteed 100+ scorers out there, a few potential ones as well, and Roughy ain't one.

Burgoyne is expensive for a guy who'll probably average 85. Star player, but plays so many team roles.

Malceski's 105 was 15ppg higher than 2013. Last time he ever cracked 100 was in 2007. Simply put, you're paying overs for a guy who'll probably only average 90-95, and is in an all new team nowhere near as good as the Swans.

Bontempelli can be picked as a forward, why waste a mid spot on him?

Danger and Jack are both tempting underpriced picks, but no way are they strong enough to hold down M3&4. Get an Ablett/Selwood in there, and then maybe take a gamble on M4, if not M5.

Money Shot

For me the locks at this stage that every player should have are
Waters and Goddard
ABLETT, Pendles, NVB, Freeman
No one is a lock in the rucks (Goldy, Nic Nat, Kreuzer, Leuy)
Swan, Clark, Hogan, Daniel

They are the locks in my opinion and would build your team around them.

fasttrack13

Simply stating mine Hib... Everyone could argue against every single player. However I think they're the safest bets.

Yeah 100% have your opinion, of course they're all "safe bets." To put them in the "must have" category is way too generous though.

Thanks everyone for feedback so far - here is the second cut of the team ...

Backs: K. Simpson, H. Shaw, L. Hodge, H. Taylor, N.Brown, H. Goddard (D. Viojo-Rainbow, J. Long)

Mids: GAJ, S. Pendelbury, N. Fyfe, J. Selwood, K. Jack, M. Bontempelli, N. Van Berlo, I. Heeney, N. Freeman (J. Steele, J. Wagner, K. Lambert)

Rucks: Nic Nat, M. Kruezer (T. Read)

Forwards: B. Goddard, L. Franklin, D. Martin, D. Swann, M. Clarke, J. Hogan (A. Saad, N. Krakouer)

Not sure about Bontempelli as M6 - tossing up with Daisy who is apparently training the house down and finished last year strongly.
