Profile

Despite being one of the youngest players on an AFL list and having an injury affected pre season, Hewett made big inroads in his first season. Consistently one of the top four or five possession getters in the reserves, he was named senior emergency on two occasions later in the year and will be keen to make his debut in 2015. A poor kick/handball ratio and the habit of giving away a few free kicks prevented Hewett from averaging 100 but there were some positive signs that he could make money given the chance. As always, Sydney's depth is a stumbling block. George needs to stay ahead of a number of teammates in order to get a game and the addition of wonderkid Callum Mills won't help things in the future either. I have no doubt other clubs are monitoring Hewett and in the right circumstances he could be a cash cow at a lesser club, but at Sydney he's most likely a mid year downgrade option if there isn't anyone better around.
