Hey guys these are the defenders that will all be discounted and definitely worth a look in Supercoach 2013!

Sam Docherty
If Docherty doesn't play a game this year he will be a bargain next year! Taken with Pick 8 in last years Draft, he is a classy defender who reads the play well and is a great kick. Expect him to slot straight into the Lions line up in 2013 if he doesn't already late this season. Expected Price: Rookie Price eg. 113k this year

David Astbury
Astbury has been out of the Tigers line up since Rd12 last year after injuring his knee. Astbury has made small steps this year through the VFL and if he doesn't break into the Tigers line up late this season he could be there in 2013 as the 3rd Tall Back with Grimes and Rance. Astbury was drafted as a key forward and could be handy up there for the tigers if he can't break into the backline. Astbury averaged 47 in 2010 and 31 in 2011 but in 2013 Astbury should show the football world why he was given the number 12 guernsey at tigerland! Expected Price: Rookie Price eg. 113k this year

Brent Staker
They key backman/forward for Brisbane is priced at 326k this season. Staker will not play a game in season 2013 due to a knee injury, which means he will be cheap next year. Staker has averaged 82 points since coming to the Lions from the Eagles and should slot straight back into the team next year if he is fit. With a good pre season and if he is fwd/def in supercoach Staker is someone I will be considering in my team next year. Expected Price: 230k

Jasper Pittard
Pittard coming of a 61 point average in 2011, Pittard struggled with injury in 2012. But he finally broke into the team in round 17 but sustained a lung injury and only scoring 12 points. If he does not end up playing another game this year Pittard will be cheap next year and on my supercoach radar as he could be in for a breackout season. Expected Price: 250k

Dale Morris
Morris has not played since Rd21 last year due to his broken leg. He was coming of his best supercoach season last year averaging 74 points. Morris has been known to be durable before this injury only missing 12 games since 2005. If Morris can have a strong pre season and get over his broken leg he may be in a few teams in 2013.  Expected Price: 280-300k

Nathan Bock
The Gold Coast star also suffered a broken leg, injuring it in Rd6 this year. But Bock is a proven supercoach GUN averaging 99,93,90 and 83 in previous years! Bock could also be a sneaky chance to be selected as a forward as long as a defender. The only problem with Bock is that it is hard to capture your best form coming back from a broken leg (just look at Nathan Brown).  With a strong pre season Bock will definitely be on my supercoach radar. Expected Price: 330-350k

Xavier Ellis
Struggling with form and injury in the last 2 years Hawk Xavier Ellis could be on the trade table this year. If Ellis goes to a new team it might be just what he needs to finally start playing some good football. For years now we have been waiting for the number 3 draft pick to break out but nothing as yet. His best supercoach scoring season was 2011 with 79 points but only playing 8 games. Ellis is yet to play a game this year and will be cheap next year. Expected Price: 330-350k

Thanks for reading and remember to vote in the poll above and don't be afraid to give me a cheer!

Capper

Nice write up, only problem with Bock is that he started to play ofrward a bit this year before getting injured which ruined his SC scores

littleblueboy2906

had Nathan Bock a few years back and he scored well-ish, will be one I may look at

Yer same had him a few years back and was a good scorer for me.

Andy Otten is actually a very good footballer, who should probably be running through the midfield, however if he gets a gig, or is traded, either way he should be a nice price, and sooner or later he is going to "get it" and take on the AFL

Good write up

From the list will be considering: Pittard, Docherty and Astbury

Other not on list considering are: Smedts, Guthrie, Yarran

Yarran he has had a crap year and could be wel, priced next year

Smedts and Guthrie as Enright, Scarlett ageing and think they may be Geelongs future in the backs

Thanks! Yer Guthrie should be fairly cheap next year and will be worth a look and Yarran should be priced well

brutal

kudos on the write up mate! :)
not in agreement re morris though.  very, very good defender, IMO, but perhaps not in the classic mold of high scoring sc defenders

Thanks! Yer Morris is a great defender and not a high scoring supercoach player but was thinking if he could be at a low price he could be worth the risk and be like Dempsey this year

Thanks Korza. Will try and do another thread like this but for mids, rucks and fwds   :)

specky lecky

Michael Hibberd. Started the year at 400,000. Played some decent footy but has had two separate spells with hamstring injuries. Is certain to start around the 330 mark next year. Lock for me!

ronl

From the looks of it Geelong have a very high opinion of Smedts.  I expect him to play every game next year and score reasonably well.  Could be a smokey.

JamSainter

If Alex Silvagni gets traded to a different club he will have a discount and will be well below 300k.
Look out for him maybe.
He is such a good player but seems to be in Freo's bad books or something!! They prefer to play Dawson over him!  ???
