AF have introduced another 2 stats which have not been used previously.

Contested Marks and Clangers.

We currently have marks valued at 3

I am proposing that we reduce marks to 1 and add contested marks value 3.

Also think we should include clangers at -2

I have regenerated league and hopefully all received the email.  If Not please advise,

An additional discussion item is team lodgements.

This year we can have 2 flex positions which will replace utilities and we can have one emergency for each position including flex so can lodge as per AF.

This will make work of admin easier as only adjustments will be for HGA.

Have set a poll up as how to treat byes

1st option is to play through all byes including Rd 0 with best 12 to count
2nd Option is to play through Rd 0, 2,3, and 4 round byes with not playing late rounds
3rd Option 1s only play through Rds 2,3, and 4 byes.
4th Option is No Change as per last year Players nominated for Rd O and their scores added to Rds 2,3,4 manually.
Lot of work with option 4 but happy to continue if that is wish of coaches.

New option to play best players during byes added.

think the scoring adjustments you have suggested make sense to me.

is -2 too much? potentially -10/12 per game for the top avg guys

The superior scoring competition of MNCTHIWH has clangers at -5 and I recommend  you implement the entire scoring system in its entirety.

Contested marks shouldn't be a thing. There should be no extra score for a mark at all. It's either an uncontested or contested possession and score is already awarded for that.

-2 for a clanger isn't enough as the player will score for getting the ball. Turnovers are the #1 scoring source for AFL teams and if you commit one you should be punished accordingly. If Bont wins the contested possession (+4) and gives it straight to Josh Drummond (-2) who sets up a goal Bont shouldn't be in the positive for that play.

Get rid of the FF/FA

A FF counts as a contested possession and already scores

A FA counts as a clanger and will be penalised when you implement that into scoring.

SPUD RULE

The best and most innovative move in all of fantasy football is better suited to leagues that are maxed out like WXV but they don't deserve it until l get my compo.

Spud can be in any position. You want someone shower to fill that spot as their score gets DEDUCTED from your total. The worse they score, the better it is for your team. It makes the irrelevant players relevant and if you could find a truly awful player who scores in the negatives it's your lucky day.

Vote it in and make your comp more interesting and unique.

We need to get some more traction to sort the scoring, but agree with

Uncontested Possession +1
marks +1
(Are contested marks already contested possessions)
otherwise CM +3

and
if Remove FA/FF
then Clanger -4 (which would be an overall increase in values)

Following on from comments on discord and here this will be the resolution for the 2025 regarding scoring:

a) Name players from Round 0  who you will be using is bye Rounds 2,3,4. To be named prior to games obviously.
b) Players named in Rd 0 must be included in teams for these Rds.
c) I will manually add scores from Rd 0 to these bye rounds.  Will be a bit time consuming as well as need to also adjust the 3 who will be cut to make best 12 in AF scoring, For transparency I will publish adjustments for bye rounds.
d) Play through the main bye rounds with best 12 counting for scores.
e) HGA will continue to apply.
f) Team lodgements will be as Uf

Def: x,x,x,x
Mid: x,x,x,x
Ruck: X
Fwds: x,x,x,x
Flex: x,x (Note these can be any position)

Emergencies: D,M,R,F, Flex
As you will have emergencies for each position the emergency will thus replace a player in same position who does not play.
If you have insufficient players you may name a player OOP in the weekly thread.

Regarding teams this year you will need to only cut players who are not in your 2025 list. This facility is due by end of January and I will advise when available.

Keep the comments coming on scoring and final decision will be made early February by vote.

Do not forget you can still trade like for like until until 19th February.

I know but for transperancy scores in AF will only reflect best 12 as I understand it so will have to disclose those 3 scores in my adjustment.

I am hoping though that I have the option to change the scoring for early byes.

A bit of an update for you all

You can now cut from your team and players not in current team. You click on the players and see the cut symbol (scissors) and set. Can you do this within next week so I can finalize teams from 15th February,

Will be sending out a vote to all to finalise a few things going forward:

As stated earlier you will name players from Rd O who you wish to play during their byes in Rds 2,3,4 in a Rd 0 thread.  Also if you wish one of these players to be C or VC this needs to all be stated in Rd 0.

Rule 1
Competition
a) No change from last year with no games during byes and top 6 play finals starting Rd 21.
b) Play through all rounds from Rd 1 - Rd 22 with Manual Scoring adjustments from rd 0 for Rds 2,3,4 and best 12 during Bye Rds 12 -16, Top 4 to play off over Rds 22 - 24
c) as above with top 4 playing off over Rds 23 and 24. eg 1v 4, 2 V 3 Week in Winners Week 2.
Note if c gets up all teams will play each other home and away over 22 weeks.

a) Keep scoring as per last year
b) Adjust scoring as below adjustments.
Note if a gets up then no rule changes will be implementated.

Free Kick adjustments
a) Keep as is that is 1 FF for and - 3 for FA.
b) delete this scoring
c) Use Free Kick Differential

a) Keep as is +3
b) reduce to +1
