Quote from: Colliwobblers on June 20, 2024, 02:37:39 AMI'm considering Blicavs or Maclean for the ruck/fwd cover there avg 60's, it's just cover and if i want mid and def cover i don't think I'm getting the Jacksons of this world with the rooks I have left.

You may want to rethink that strategy as Blicavs is a mid/ruck, it would have to be Maclean and he's prone to scoring like garbage half the time. I would just get Jackson in, he's a top 6 forward so it effectively kills two birds with one stone.

Bully

Praise the Lord! Kynan Brown to debut, that's 17 starters, 102k mid/forward, pity he's not a defender but I'll take it.

That spells trouble for me, looks like I'll be 200 points down on the crowd, but I have to look beyond this week. Perhaps I should have grabbed Gulden instead of Sinclair, I'm up 20 odd points but likely to be in deficit after this week.

Nevermind, I will wait for the team sheets and hopefully there's a rookie surprise packet. Mannagh getting a game would also be nice, I struggle to see the reasoning behind not playing him when he went for a second round selection, that just seems dumb and a waste of draft capital.
I've got 20, but NWM is a question mark, Green and Oliver in the mids and Sexton at F6. Flipside is my bench looks terrible!

This is why I'm so keen to hold Freijah, at least he can toggle between the forwards & the mids, he and Dowling a good combo.

If you have 20 you are well set, I'm very tempted to switch off the footy this weekend, I have a horrible feeling about this week but not much I can do about it.

Steele to Serong has crossed my mind several times but that leaves me short in the forwards.

Schache is apparently available for selection, he's 123k but again, he's nigh on useless beyond this week.

So NWM had the injury icon when I responded here, which gave me false hope as he was actually on the bye, the icon is now blue!

Essentially waiting for teams tonight to see if I need to modify my plans.

Will be an interesting week, Powell is the one who could throw plans into turmoil, I ditched Sexton given he's been butchering the ball, Dimma won't tolerate such wastage with players who are predominantly uncontested. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sexton sub to be honest, if so he will need to be traded.

Bully

Sexton on extended bench, I'd be making plans just in case.

Bully

McMullin still in the squad, if named in the starting 22 I might rejig my plans, will have a tinker this evening to see what I can muster.

This is the version with Aleer in the side, it gives me 18 starters for this week but very thin coverage in the midfield. The saving grace is Brown has DPP, that makes things a lot more pliable with all three rookies. Losing Freijah not ideal but at least I can shuffle the decks with Dowling, Brown & Mannagh. McMullin will probably be sub if I'm being realistic so best to stitch up Jackson this week.

Mat0369

My gut tells me Brown might get the vest as well

Goodwin doesn't vest debutants, or at least he hasn't thus far, with families travelling from all over the country it actually should be mandatory to start debutants on the field. In any case this week I expect to lose ground so if it's a 20 from Brown I will have to take it on the chin.

Bully

Absolutely torn on captain's choice, 114 by Gawn still in the ballpark with Grundy, Heeney & Sheezel. Might leave it for the last game and captain Ryan or Flanders if Merrett goes large.

Colliwobblers

Suns are renowned for giving up points to half backs. But a bird in the hand...

I will assess my situation after the Ess vs West Coast game, at the moment it's with Bont so the points are still bankable.

Finally it's over! After a terrible week scoring 1936 I can move on from the hell that is the byes, having largely ignored this final round I can sit tight for a few weeks, my rank of 21k is poor but at least the team is fairly close to completion. I don't have Butters or Serong, I probably won't get that opportunity either. The focus now is on getting Rankine in at F4, that would also allow me to loop both Comben and Jackson which might iron out the odd howler.

Am I disappointed with the Jackon trade? Not in the slightest, this had to be done eventually and it was my 37th trade, the bye went in his favour so Rankine dropped in the rankings. Three trades should be enough to get  Rankine across the line but it may require another rookie seed, perhaps Reid to Schoenmaker, I'd then be presuming I don't sustain any injuries. Probably best to hold all trades for now, hopefully there's some cash around the corner with Mannagh, I reckon he's due for a game soon.

Good buys for this week are Rozee & Butters, both underpriced and if I had a morsel of cash I would probably bring one if not two into the side.

We are all getting low on trades and need to be conservative I have only 4 and wondering whether to use 2 to settle team leaving 2 or sit for a while. Would be great if all our prems performed together but that is SC for you luck first,

With 2 months of football ahead you are absolutely correct, trades should be treated like gold from now. There might be an emergency if holding Oliver or Salem but otherwise you can guarantee there will be injuries from this point on. Sometimes those injuries can work in one's favour, if Darcy goes down Jackson becomes a weapon & this also needs to be considered when finalising the squad.
