Title: New SMF4Mobile theme
Post by: m0nty on February 03, 2014, 12:08:53 AM
I have activated a second theme, which you can access in your profile area: a mobile-specific theme based on jQuery called SMF4Mobile. It is a lot different to what we're all used to, extremely bare-bones and made for mobile devices obviously. The icons and links for doing things may seem a bit hard to find at first. Let me know what you think.

You will also notice that if you're coming here from a mobile device, the SMF4Mobile theme is now default. This may cause some ruction!

Can I change the settings on my account so I can just come to the full site instead of the mobile site?

I checked, the answer is no, you will have to click the link at the bottom of the page to "Go to the full site" each time. Sorry.

Quite like it, particularly on the iPhone. Makes the site easier to navigate on the smaller screen. Not so great on an iPad, and a bit of a pain that it defaults to the mobile site, but very easy to get to the main site.

Only thing I'd like and can't find is 'unread posts' or 'new replies'.

Just tried it, and I liked it.

However, I changed to full site pretty quick because I think I prefer it.

I don't know about anybody else, but under the old mobile format, I keep missing the links on my touch screen and go to the wrong place. Very frustrating. That and the posts don't fit well on the screen.

Now that's all gone! So yay!

Yeah I love it. At first it is different and a bit tricky to see things at first but I reckon after a week or two I will be surfing just as easily as I would be on the main site. Great idea thanks Monty :)

Obstacles are what you see when you lose sight of your goals.

m0nty, I like what I see and I award you six points!

Was browsing on my phone had a new message clicked on the thing that said I had a new message

Then I had 2 to choose from I tried opening either but tapping on them achieved nothing

Had to go to full website to open

Anyone experiencing the same?

I like it as can't miss click the wrong thing, just need to get use to it!

I got the same thing KB at the start. It lags a bit for me before opening the message after clicking it. Works for me if I give it a few seconds, but if not opening for you, may have to just work through full site for seeing PMs like you are now.

When clicking on 'updated topics', I think when you select the topic it goes to the last post, as opposed to the first unread post....

... this irritates me. Anyone else with that issue? Or is it in my imagination.
